Fs 1995 Ls - 86K - Damage To Bumper And Front Passenger Fender

Ok boys, I haven't been around in a pretty long time. Actually, I think some of my last posts were about my car getting hit. The car has sat in my garage for the last two years out of the weather. The body (minus accident damage) and interior are in great shape.

As far as the damage goes, someone hit the car on the front passenger fender/bumper. It ripped the plastic bumper at the site marker light. The headlight was also ruined, but I have replaced that with a new one. The front fender and bumper would need to be replaced to bring it back to being a beauty. The side marker broke and would also need replaced. If you wanted to pass inspection the only real body issue is the side marker being broke. A new one off ebay would fix that for under $20. I would guess total repair work could be done at a shop for $700-$800. If you could do it yourself, you would have a steal of a car.

I was really wanted to keep the car, but there is just no point for me to do that now. I would rather have someone else enjoy it and get compliments on such a "clean" car. You won't break any speed records but the 3100 has been so solid for me over the years of owning this car. I have modified the appearance of the car with tint, vinyl over chrome on bottom, removed chrome from hood, and changed interior wood dash pieces with carbon fiber looking overlay.

I am definitely willing to sell the 18's I have on the car and the backup set of original wheels and tire with the car. The backup tires are in need of replacement though. The car has not been inspected but was never driven more than 3k miles a year for the past 7 years because I have a work vehicle. The damage from the accident happened two years ago.

Let me know if you have any questions or PM me with an offer. I'm in Pittsburgh, PA and I'm just posting it here first, not even with any real hopes to sell it to a mymonte member, but just because this site has been such a great help in the past. I would like to see it go to a member on here though because I know it would be taken care of.

Here are some older pics pre-accident. The car would show just like this when repaired or hell, if you just looked at the drivers side...lol.

Thanks!

Short Throw In The Camaro

Finally got all the parts I needed to do the install.

Here's the shifter when I first got it

Then I found out it would be wise to upgrade the transmission sleeve to a bronze one (the stock is a plastic one prone to breaking)

Then I just needed the weekend, and a relatively warm day, which I just HAD.

Here's the crappy crappy long and sloppy stock shifter:

Removed my center console (boy was the car filthy under here)

The old shifter came right off, dropped the new bronze sleeve in:

Get the new shifter on there!!!

And put it alllll back together

CLASSIC!

I have a lot of getting used to with this thing. It is very strong, and very stiff. I missed 3rd gear a couple times trying to quickly shift this thing. They say it's a 40% shorter throw, it feels almost 70% shorter!!! I don't even feel like I have gone down into 2nd when I am in it.

New learning curve, I love it

11/11/2011 SURGERY UPDATES FROM MY SISTER:

Quote

8:30a
1st update: they took Cort just a few minutes ago. He was in really good spirits (wanting to charge for his signature). Mom, Dad and I were in there when the surgical team was in there. The surgeon was very positive. We are heading to get a bite to eat.

9:45a
2nd update: They had a little trouble starting a line into an artery. Surgery began at 9:20.

11:35a
3rd update: Cort is now on the heart/lung machine and all is well.

2:08p
4th update: he wasn't completely on the heart/lung bypass until 12:15 - scar tissue slows down this process. The aortic valve is in place and they are grafting the aortic artery right now. I think the fact that they are grafting is indicative of them needing to connect the artery into the aortic arch, which prolongs the surgery. Things are going well. He will be in surgery for at least two more hours and that is probably when we will get the next update.

3:41p
5th update: he is off heart/lung bypass as of 3:15 and doing well - still a few more hours until they are done. At that time I think the surgeon himself will come talk to us (I hope).

4:51p
6th update: they are closing him up now and Dr. Russell should be coming out to talk to us when they are done

6:43p
7th update (last): The surgeon just left us. He sat with us for a good 30 minutes talking to us about the surgery. Cort should be moved to ICU within the hour.

They did not have to do anything with the aortic arch. the aneurism narrowed before the arch. the doctor used a maize (spelling?) to prevent future arrhythmia problems. his echo after the surgery looked good, and so do all of his numbers. They did not have to touch his pig's valve - everything looked good there. HIs lung function is also doing well, although there was a lot of scarring that adhered to the heart. The doctor used a cover over the conduit to make future heart surgeries a little easier to get in.

he was in surgery for approximately 8 hours. he was on the heart/lung bypass for about 3 hours. the procedure of placing the valve and the artery took about 2 hours and 20 minutes. it was a very large aneurism. the artery now is, and will always be, at 3.6cm.

They are going to wait until morning to wake him - they want him to be still through the night. around 4:30 tomorrow morning they will start to take him off the sedatives and they will try to get him off the ventilator as soon as possible. Eric and I will try to be back here at the hospital around 7:00 so that once he is awake he will see a familiar face (even if he won't remember). Mom and Dad will try to get here by around 10. They probably won't move him to a regular floor until Sunday or Monday.

When this valve does need to be replaced, technology now allows them to replace it through a catheter. Apparently the valve being replaced can stay in place as the new one takes over.

Thank you all for your prayers during this long day.

RETURN TO OR, ~24 HOURS LATER:

Quote

11/12 @ 9:08p
i tried posting earlier from the road, but it didn't take...Please Pray! around 5:30 this evening i left Cort. While he wasn't completely comfortable, he seemed ok. they had gotten him back into bed (after him sitting up a good portion of the day), and his nurse was watching his oxygen level closely because it was low. his platelet count was also low, even thought they had been giving him platelets since the the surgery. he was bleeding more than they wanted. his nurse was in contact with dr. russell.
as we were leaving the city around 7 (after having dinner with family), i called to check in. Cort's nurse said that he was ok, but that his platelet level was really low, and that he was bleeding too much, and that he had been become unresponsive for a short time. directly afterwards he was alert and communicating again. However, they are taking him back into surgery to find out exactly what is wrong and to clear out the bleeding around the incision site. when i talked to the nurse, he was already intubated.
Mom and Dad are already on their way back to the city, if not already there. The last they talked to Dr. Russell around 8 i think, and he assured them that what is going on is not life threatening. however, it is related to the fact that Cort has had so many surgeries, and that he has had so many blood transfusions.
I came all the way home with Eric and JJ to get JJ into bed tonight. friends are taking me back to the city tonight so that i can stay all night. I am hoping that i can convince mom and dad to go home once Cort is back out of surgery to get some rest...
Please pray for strength and healing for Cort...

11/12 @ 10:19p
The surgery is over already. Cort's platelet count was really low and there was a lot of oozing blood around the incision site - they drained about 3-4 liters from the incision site. They are giving him a special kind of blood to get his numbers up where they should be. He will be on the ventilator overnight again. They will keep him in icu through tomorrow. The Dr said that while this is a setback, he will be OK.

11/13 @ 10:07a
Dr Russell was in to see Cort about a half hour ago. The oozing blood was all from the incision and suture site. His heart and the valves look good. Dr said it is rare for a patient to have an uneventful 24 hours and then go back into surgery, but that Cort is doing Just fine now. They will continue to treat him aggressively for his low platelet count, but so far it appears that his bleeding is under control. Dr said that because of the amount of blood transfusions he has had over the years, his body has built antibodies that attack foreign blood, so it takes more to find blood that his body will accept. He should be coming off the vent in the next hour as long as he makes the effort to take deeper breaths.

11/13 @ 11:46a
I am home now. Mom texted at 11 and said that Cort is off the ventilator. The do have him on an oxygen mask for the humidity to help loosen mucus. he is using a suction tube to help get mucus out. he is communicating well, and seems to be in better spirits. the last time Dr. Russell was in (just before i left), he said that they want to keep him resting in bed all day today. tomorrow they will work on getting him up in the chair.

THIS is your official "fair warning" ... my "big heart" is NO MORE. Literally, It was replaced with a cow valve, 11/11/2011. Figuratively, the jury is still out....
I'm the opposite of the Grinch. Instead of my heart growing bigger, it is now smaller. Perhaps the following vignettes will provide proof...or not.
ENERGY BOOST
It's amazing how people's words/actions affect how you feel, bad & good. After my Christmas Eve radio broadcast, I had rather low energy. But, seeing all of the posts & Emails about my radio show ... & talking to people at the Christmas Eve service, along with a short drive to see Holiday decorations ... really re-energized me.

Too bad some people in this world tend to have the opposite affect....

FLAME & FIRE
Flame wars? Life is too short, or is that NOT through your THICK SKULLS yet? BTW, despite what Billy Joel sings, WE STARTED THE FIRE.

SNOW DRIVING
In December, the Chicago area had a "snowfall" under 2 inches. Yet, drivers forgot how to drive in the white stuff, as collisions galore were reported. NO EXCUSE for collisions in less than 2 inches of snow, ESPECIALLY if the vehicle CAUSING them is front-wheel drive. Perhaps, the NTSB should suggest driver's licenses be revoked instead of banning the use of cell phones....

GATHERINGS NOT
By popular demand, I will NOT put together or promote gatherings in 2012. Attendance at the 2008 MidSummer Chitown Gathering was 65; attendance plummeted since then, to FIVE in 2011. People simply do not "talk up" the gatherings. I went for a "Friday Night Lights" drive the day before Christmas Eve & thought that I could've made it a meet'n'greet event. But, I had other stuff (wrapping gifts, prepping for my radio show, etc.) to do anyway.

I had hoped to have plans for New Year's Eve, but those fell through. And, a mini road trip was out of the question, too.

HOWEVER, my 2012 ROAD TRIP is in the works; DETAILS TBD....

FALSE SLOGANS
Laws against false advertising should INCLUDE slogans....

Chicago's WUSN (99.5 FM) claims to play "everything country." That must mean the likes of Barbara Mandrell, Crystal Gayle, Jim Glaser, Ronnie Milsap, Ed Bruce, The Bellamy Brothers, etc., all are now pop, rock, or rap artists, since WUSN does not play their music at all. WUSN also claims to be "America's country station", but that title belongs to AM 650, WSM, Nashville TN, which has been playing country music ... old & new ... longer. In some cases, it doesn't need the web to broadcast to other states.

Ch#$r%*et's current ad campaign [I liked "heartbeat of America" best] is "Chevy Runs Deep". Really? Like it or not, Chevy is in my blood & has been from the time I first cried that Mom & Dad were leaving behind a 1976 Monte Carlo after a TEST DRIVE, prior to them trading in Dad's red 1968 Impala SS for a buckskin tan 1976 MC that led me to pointing to other MCs, saying "arlo". I was 3. BUT, why are we supposed to believe that the company itself cares about its past? They've done just about everything to ignore it, starting with the 1980s Toyota Nova. At the core of business is making money, leaving little to no resources for celebrating the heritage.

TRUTH TELLING
Ignored facts/technicalities are NOT acceptable.

Why is Toyota considered a FULL line company? I don't believe they have any rear-wheel drive cars for 2011 or 2012.... And, why are RWD cars compared to FWD cars, like the Dodge Charger (RWD) & Ch#$r%*et Celebrity/Lumina/"impala" (FWD) considered to be "competitors"?

According to the book _Chevrolet: The Complete History_ [copyright 1996 by Publications International LTD], on page 348: "With the new Lumina coupe and sedan effectively replacing their Celebrity counterparts...." On page 359: "Taking the place of the aging Celebrity sedan was the Lumina sedan ... a coupe version followed in the fall." ALSO, the Lumina shared types (Eurosport), dashboards (flat/horizontal), tail lights (3 square on each side, across the back panel) & FWD with the Celebrity.... Translation? The Lumina did NOT replace the Monte Carlo (1995-2007) OR Impala (2000-current). Ironically, the MC was the only one of the cousin names (Buick Regal, Olds Cutlass Supreme, Pontiac Grand Prix) to NOT be slapped on a FWD car IMMEDIATELY after the RWD versions ended in 1987/1988.

The Tribune Co isn't any better. After YEARS of claiming they wanted to sell the Chicago Cubs COMPLETELY, what do they do? They RETAIN 5% ownership, & it shows. Theo & Co said they wanted a manager with experience, eliminating Ryne Sandberg as a candidate. Who do they hire? Someone with only 12 DAYS of managerial experience. 12 DAYS does not a manager make.

PERSONALLY
I don't have any regrets, though some things I'd do differently or just DO.... It's NO secret that I'm unhappy with the financial strain my health issues cause, but I do the best I can.... Even though my life isn't like I thought it'd be by this age, perhaps I'm where I'm supposed to be ... not much comfort when I look at the lives of my peers & see how much "farther" along they are. But, maybe we are as far along as each other ... just taking different paths. That sounds better. I have so much on my WANT TO DO list, but not enough time OR energy OR money to actually DO all, let alone some, of that list. Those of us with chronic health issues or who've endured surgery know the difference a POSITIVE attitude can have. It's not always easy & sometimes what others see as a "positive" attitude doesn't feel that way to us....

I'm Cort & I approve this post.

Hello all... I've been struggling with things recently, namely the diagnosis of my wife. She has stage 3 Hodgkin Lymphoma and has to go through 6 months of chemotherapy. This is a big blow to us, as we just started our lives together, just bought a house, a car for her. I question why this has happened, as she is a great person, why couldn't this happen to some gangbanger that's out shooting up neighborhoods?

Anyway. We don't know how she's going to respond to the chemo, which starts on the 18th, so I'm working on a home business, so I can be close to her whenever she needs me. I just finished setting the site up, but if any of you need any of the services listed, let me know; and if you know of any businesses or individuals that may want my services, let me know.

Hey everyone, the thought has been crossing my mind if I should get a new DD or not. There is nothing seriously wrong with my car at the moment, but probably within a year or so it will need some things replaced; pass side tie rod end/ball joint, probably new front brakes, all new brake lines, possibly fuel and tranny lines, etc.

The car has 143k on it, and about 60k of that has been highway miles. (I went to school about 25 miles away one way, and now work about 50 miles away one way, so I put some serious miles on my car.) Anyway, overall the car is in good shape, has a set of wheels for the winter time, and a set of wheels for the summer time, both sets have about 1/2 tread on them. How much do you think I could get for my car? According to kelly blue book my car is worth around $2500-3000. Do you guys think I could get 3000 for it?

Sports Teams Themes

*
So ... anyone else notice that the NFL's NFC Championship game (NY Giants at SF 49ers), Sunday, 01/22/2012, was a battle between terminal cities of the Lincoln Highway?

Interestingly ... MLB's Giants moved across the LH from NY to SF.

Route 66 also boasts connections to sports franchises in Chicago, St Louis & LA....

In terms of team colors, I can only think of 1 city that has at least 3 major sports teams with the same basic 3 colors:
Pittsburgh...
...black, white, yellow/gold
...Pirates (MLB)
...Steelers (NFL)
...Penguins (NHL)

Chicago is one city that comes close, with 2 teams sporting the same 3 colors...
...black, white, red
...Bulls (NBA)
...Blackhawks (NHL)

Others?

Several cities have teams with "related" names...
...Chicago Cubs (MLB), Bears (NFL)
...Denver Rockies (MLB), Avalanche (NHL), Rapids (MLS)
...Detroit Tigers (MLB), Lions (NFL)
...Indianapolis Colts (NFL), Pacers (NBA)
...Miami Marlins (MLB), Dolphins (NFL)
...Philadelphia Eagles (NFL), Flyers (NHL)
...Seattle Mariners (MLB), Seahawks (NFL)

Others?

Team names associated with the history/story of the city/state include...
...Chicago Fire (MLS)
...Colorado Rockies (MLB)
...Dallas Cowbows (NFL)
...Detroit Pistons (NBA)
...Houston Astros (MLB)
...Miami Dolphins (NFL)
...Miami Heat (NBA)
...Milwaukee Brewers (MLB)
...Minnesota Twins (MLB)
...New England Patriots (NFL)
...New Jersey Devils (NHL)
...NY Islanders (NHL)
...NY Yankees (MLB)
...Orlando Magic (NBA)
...Philadelphia Union (MLS)
...Pittsburgh Steelers (NFL)
...St Louis Blues (NHL)
...San Francisco 49ers (NFL)
...Texas Rangers (MLB)
...Washington Capitols (NHL)
...Washington Nationals (MLB)
...Washington Senators (MLB)

I'm fed up with the sh*tty light output on my ebay lights, but I love the look of them. Why not retrofit some projectors. The plan is to open up the headlights, put these in (maybe some angle eyes) and seal them back up. I've got a few ideas let me know what you think.

Here's my choices on how to do this as I see them.

1. Put projectors in middle of headlight where current low beams are. Leave the DRL and high beam light functional as is.
2. Put projectors in middle of headlight where current low beams are. Remove DRL and high beam light so only light is from projectors. Use a CCFL Angle Eye on projector as DRL.
3. Combination of the above two.

I like the idea of removing the DRL and high beam light and having an angle eye be the only DRL and the projector be the low/high at night. However, this might look weird having an empty spot on the inside of my headlights with nothing there.

And ideas/suggestions welcome. I'll use this thread as a progress thread and post pics when I have some.

Continuing 2 Mc Generation-Specific Groups

*
With the start of 2012, I'm renewing efforts to "keep alive" a generation-specific Monte Carlo board & a generation-specific MC group.

3rd GEN MC BOARD

I quietly re-launched the 3rd gen MC (1978, 1979, 1980) forum, November 2010...
http://thirdgenmontes.proboards.com/index.cgi

With Sean's death after the 2008 MC Nationals, third generation MCs lost their unique "voice" on the web, becoming the only MC generation without its own active/running message board or group at that time. Just over 2 years later, August 2010, I finally took the time to investigate switching ownership of the board from Sean to me. I completed the process just over a month later (September 2010) & started work on some tweaks to the board. A month later, October 2010, I finalized the initial tweaks & shared personal notices that the board was re-opened.

During 2011, the forum has seen a few new members, but no real "traffic". Maybe it won't ever again see many posts or active members. That's OK; at least I can say I'm trying to keep it alive for 3rd gen owners. I'm still somewhat apprehensive about this venture for MANY reasons, but, for now, each MC generation has its own message board/group.

Please accept this invitation to check out the forum & join. Be sure to read the "3rd gen facts" in the NewsLine.

6th GEN GROUP

In August 2011, Rob (owner of the 6th gen Yahoo Group) announced that he had sold his car & was looking for someone to take over the group, noting in part:
"I started this group 11 years ago (WOW!) shortly after getting my brand new 2K SS. ... My hope is that someone steps up to keep or improve on the quality of this group. If not, I may switch the settings to unmoderated."

Then, another member posted a "thank you" thread to Rob, stating:
"You did a really great job holding this group together over the years. I remember very well when we started as an Edmunds thread. There were so many responses that you opted, wisely so, to start a Yahoo! group. A very good idea. "

I replied to that thread, telling Rob that I'd be willing to take over, if he didn't find anyone else. To my surprise, Rob's reply came ~2 hours later:
"Thanks Cort. You are the person I had in mind! I'll make you the group owner and I hope you can build on what we have already done. I know this group isn't nearly as active as it once was, but I really don't want to see it die. There is a lot of useful information here."

Hey all, I have a nice New Fender Well Air Intake that I saved from my 2005 Monte SS with the 3800 S/C'd.. Very nice and it's powder coated.. I bought it for alittle over 200.00.. I'm not sure if it will fit 06 or 07's but You can take a look at it from this site and decide... It's the same color and design as shown in the picture below... Very nice... I removed it before I traded my 05 in... No scratches... But the description says that it's not used on LS4 vehicles... maybe you know someone that has a 3800 that would like it... No reasonable offer refused including S&H... Thanks

M90 Outlet Design Project.

Ok i have finished looking thru a bunch of m90 pictures and port designs. I know some say that opening the outlet too much will decrease efficiency. IE the Lightning style outlet. if you look at the picture i attached, i think the design of the elongated outlet would actually be good and here is why. on both the stock and ported blowers on the right of the pic, you can see the raw casting where the rotors never touch the case. when air is pushed in this area, it has to find its way forward toward the main outlet. in the lightning outlet, this air can escape much easier. Another design idea for the outlet is to extend the outlet triangle to just before the point where the rotors are at their lowest. the idea behind this is that once the rotors begin turning upward instead of downwards or inwards, they are fighting against their own rotation. i feel this is the reason for the "silencer ports" as the rotors approach almost their lowest position in this area. the main outlet is where the rest of the rotor reaches its lowest point... well short of it...

I have a spare M90 from a 97 car i will practice on. but i feel my reasoning is sound. OK so thoughts and input please...

Car Thoughts, Party, Radio & 2012 Road Trip

*
After my 11/11/2011 open heart surgery, I drove for the first time, 12/15/2011. I had a rush of excitement when I pulled my 1979 Caprice Classic out of the garage, where it had been with my 5 MCs. As I drove down the road, my thoughts turned to other cars, particularly ones I'd love to purchase...
...mid-late 1970s LTD/Thunderbird
...1975 Caprice Classic convertible
...1976 Caprice Classic sedan
...1989 Caprice Classic sedan
...1987 MC SS Aerocoupe
...2011 Dodge Charger
...& too many others....

Then, during that same drive, I wondered what it'd be like to have KITT, KARR, Herbie, the General Lee, Jim Rockford's Pontiac, Starsky & Hutch's Torino, & a host of other "starring" vehicles ALL in the SAME television show or movie.... I blame it on the drugs.

What I DO NOT blame on the drugs are thoughts for a POTENTIAL "Post-Surgery Party", a return to hosting my CD SHOWCASE radio show, & my 2012 road trip, fueled in part, by finding this ... Kermit & Fozzie in the 1979 Muppet Movie, Movin' Right Along....

*sighs*

If only I could figure out a way to be on the radio &/or "on the road" 24/7/365...!

POST-SURGERY PARTY
I'm not sure if I'm going to throw a party to celebrate. I had a blast at the Pre-Surgery Party, but that was before "winter".

IF I do this, it'll probably be SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 4, 2012. Who would be IN?

RADIO WAVES
I'm looking into hosting regular versions of my radio show, CD SHOWCASE.

Northstar Monte New Price $3500! Obo

Yes it is back up for sale. I have decided to move on. It was fun rebuilding the car but now it is time to let it go. Three cars is getting to be too much.

The details.....

Bought the car 9/27/08 with 136,424 miles and a blown motor and transmission. Drove 750 some miles each way to get this car. Basically the head gaskets were blown so badly that coolant was dumping into the oil drain back passages and past the pistons and into the oil thus eating away at the rod bearings.

I bought the car thinking it ran slightly hot, boy was I wrong. Two weeks after the motor was done for I spun 4 rod bearings so I parked it for the winter (about 4-5 months) until it was warmer out so I could start working on it.

After looking over the car I decided everything was garbage on it. The trans. and motor leaked severely the front brakes were gone bad tie rods bad ball joints everything was shot. So I decided to rebuild it all.

Here's basically the run down of what I did.

Motor

What was done....

Had the block hot tanked and cleaned. Complete inspection was done on the block and the heads. Had the cylinder walls honed to get the dex-cool stains off. All the main caps and rods were checked for proper size and inspected.

Parts

Reman Crank
4 new rods
reused stock pistons, new stock rings
new rod bearings, and main bearings
New GM TTY bolts for mains and rods
New GM oil bed plate (This is what the oil passes through to the mains, and rods. If not replaced they leak internally and externally)
Heads were resurfaced, cams polished and worn lifters replaced
New valve seals installed
New timing components like tensioner's, intermediate sprocket gear (bearing was worn due to metal in oil)
New sealed power oil pump
New harmonic balancer
Two new o2 sensors, new GM knock sensor
A/C Bypass pulley
Idler pulley
Tensioner Pulley
New reman alternator
New serp belt and water pump belt

All gaskets were replaced

x2 throttle body gaskets
egr gasket
X2 Intake gasket
Back fire valve on intake was also replaced (seal was bad)
injector o-rings
valve cover gaskets
X2 exhaust mani. gasket
X2 head gasket
water pump seal
t-stat seal
new t-stat
water x-over gaskets
front and rear main seals
New seals on the oil filter plate and oil cooler lines
front cover gasket
cam seal for water pump shaft
No oil pan or half case seals were used just GM rtv. The lower end of these motors DO NOT SEAL WITH STOCK GASKETS. THe dealer wont even sell them they are a waste of time instead they sold me a tube of rtv. It has worked wonders. If you have ever changed oil at a quick lube for about a week you wil understand what the issue was with these motors they leak like you have never seen a motor leak.

As for the completely stripped head bolts I drilled and re-tapped all 20 of them for a larger coarser threaded head stud. The northstar is known for head gasket failures. The head bolts over time pull the threads from the brittle aluminum due to the casting process of the block. They are die casted blocks which I am told leaves lots of air in the aluminum. When you drill the blcok it turns to almost a dust.

The head stud kit was purchased from northstarperformance.com for I wanna say $550.

Transmission

Complete over haul was done
Tear down and inspection of all hard parts was done.
New torque converter
New sensors
New shift solenoids
New TCC solenoid
Everything but input and output shafts and chains were replaced. Virtually a new transmission.
Work on trans. was done by a very reputable shop locally that builds lots of race car transmissions and industrial truck transmissions. So they know there sh*t.
Cv axels were inspected and new grease boots put on also

Suspension/brakes

New front and rear calipers
New stainless steel brake lines
All new hardware
Raybestos ceramic pads front and rear
Raybestos rotors front and rear
Disc brake conversion done on the rear also, car was originally drum.
Stock lateral links
BMR tubular poly urethane trailing arms
Poly sway bar links front and back
Powder coated rear knuckles and front sway bar
New control arm bushings
New outer tie rod ends MOOG
New ball joints MOOG

Interior

I have 90% of a black leather interior. Trim and all. No front seats was gonna keep the red buckets that came with the car.
New oem black carpet
Mint rear leather seat
black trim for around the door and rear window with the leather insert
black carpeted rear deck cover

Thing is none of it but the front seats is installed but all of it is included along with the hardware.

Car has no stereo I bought it like this but it does have very nice JL audio 6x9's and 5-1/4's up front they sound super clear.

The exterior of the car is the worst part the paint is peeling which is common for the mid 90's gm white. Over all there is no major rust underneath the car or on the body. No rusting rear quarters or rear shock towers here.

With 4,500 invested (kept all receipts) plus the price of the car of 2,500.

I'll start at 4500 OBO

Adult-Themed Kid Stuff

*
"Kid" movies/shows that have adult themes (or vice versa) ... GO!

Kermit & Rowlf singing about women ... "I Hope That Something Better Comes Along":

[My favorite song from that 1979 Muppet Movie is one of the related videos on the right-hand-side list ... Kermit & Fozzie singing "Movin' Right Along".]

Scenes from the original CARS movie ... "Real Gone":

Golden Girls ... choose just about ANY scene from that TV show. As a kid, I was allowed to watch it ... but seeing it now as an adult, I'm a bit surprised. The writing and acting on that show was superb, at least in terms of disguising some of the adult themes....

Infiniti G35 Coupe

lumina is finally gone.... After months upon months of test driving, and debating, I chose the G35. Initially my first choice was a GTO, and even still is, but I cant justify 12/18 mpg on a DD. So once I eliminated that it was G35 coupe, 06-07 Monte SS, and G6 GTP coupe, just for the hell of it.

Came within inches of buying an 06 SS, and put a deposit on it. I love the way it drove more than the G35 even, but in the end, it was about looks. photos dont do justice to the 06-07 SS IMO, in person it is 100x nicer. It is a unique car, with a great stance but for me personally i feel like the styling of the G35 is less dated, and just more of my personal taste. Anyway, it has only 38,000 miles, paid for it cashmoney so i dont owe a thing on it....

Anyway, the new owner of the Lumina lives in Greensboro, NC... He flew into NY this morning, and i picked up my new car right after that....

The seller was going to give me a set of OEM 18s w/ tires, and OEM 19s with tires, but....... the OEM 19s were scuffed up pretty bad, and not too much left on the tires... So instead of those he took off $300 gave me the 18s, and these ADR 19s with only 200 miles on the toyos... Im not a huge fan of the rims on the car now, I really feel like the new ones will set it off

Heres how she sits now

as far as mods, I dont want to do much.... Its already tinted and has OEM xenon. I might bump it up to 6000K or 8000K and do the fogs to match. (on these cars, the fog lights are the bottom portion of the headlight)

other than that, clear sidemarkers, superwhite LEDs in the reverse lights, license plate, etc

3800 Swap... Need Help, Drowning...

I thought I did all the research, tried following the l67 walkthrough, but heres the rub: 97 monte carly ls, 01 impala 3800. thought that by getting all the wiring and pcm from the impy we would be able to wire the c100 into the harness and get it going but no luck. First, noone has been able to find the pinout for the plug that passes through the firewall in the 01 impala from the fuse junction blocks. I got the one for the strut tower only. I hooked it up to what we thought might get us started but nothing, no fuel pump, wont even roll over (assuming the three wires from the monte that are 2 tranny position and 1 theft deterrent that I can't find on the impy harness)

I now have a week and hundreds wrapped up into this and a lawn ornament.
would a 98-99 z34 wiring harness work with this 01 impala motor? if so, do i use the pcm from the z34 or the impy? Or better yet, does anyone have a clue how to wire this? at this point I would love just to get it started and work on details later... anyone know what wires are required to start this motor... as in bare minimum to start?
any thoughts would be appreciated

Overheating Problem

Some of you know, I did the 3400 top swap on my 3100 a couple months ago. It's been running great until what happened the other day.

Just to clarify, the 3400 swap requires you use a new lower intake coolant line that has an O-ring attachment. The old 3100 line was threaded.

So, I was driving on the highway and look in my rear view mirror and see a cloud of smoke behind my car and then the HOT light comes on. I pull over and check under the hood, turns out the slip-fit coolant line wiggled/popped out of the lower intake, most of my coolant was lost. It was late so I stopped by the store and grabbed some water and put that in so I could make it home. I fixed the line and put new coolant in on Monday.

Since then, I've had to stop a couple times because the engine is about to overheat. What could be the problem? Could the water pump have seized? If so, how do I go about checking that?

i have a 95 Ls monte. knowing that the wiring for the trunk popper is pre installed on every car even if it didnt come with the option, is this the same case with the power mirror wiring. is it tucked into the door when the car came with manual mirrors? i can easily get power mirrors from the salvage yard but do not want to try to wire from scratch.

1995 Monte Carlo 3.1 Hesitation

Hello all, I am a new owner of 1995 monte carlo 3.1. The car has 153,000 miles, and seems to run pretty good except for 1 problem. There is a hesitation (bogging) that occurs from take off (acceleration). Once it get going it accelerates fine. It only bogs down on take off. Now, I have a question. I tried unplugging the IACV and for a few seconds the car accelerated fine, but then starts bogging again. Right now I am running it witht he IACV unplugged. I am getting no check engine light. Can a faulty IACV cause hesitation on take-off? I unplugged the MAP sensor and it ran like crap. Any ideas? Thanks!!!!

New Hardware!

I'm not sure how many other people on here are interested in hardware/computers, but for those are here's my newest build. I've built a gaming system every year, for the past five years. Have to keep up with the latest!

This is my most expensive build yet, at $1304.89. <-- All hardware, not including OS, because I....uh...get that from somewhere else Running Windows 7 x64 with a mild (stable) overclock from 3.3 to 3.6 Ghz
I just finished putting everything together a couple days ago. I've running it right now on a 1 Terabyte 5200rpm SATA II drive, but later today my last order arrives with a 60Gb SATA III Solid State drive. Then I'll be running fast. This time I wandered away from my long-time nVida SLI relationship and went with ATI. So far, I haven't been disappointed while gaming. After some research, I read if you have a AMD FX chip, AMD FX 990 series mobo and ATI Radeon HD cards, the whole system is then considered AMD's Scorpius platform, "for an astounding gaming and HD entertainment experience. As part of the "Scorpius" platform, AMD FX CPUs also support AMD CrossFireX™ technology, which allows the combination of multiple graphics cards in a PC for stunning visual experiences, and AMD Eyefinity technology support for super resolution on up to six monitors." This is also the reason I stuck with AMD, otherwise I would have tried out Intel. Maybe next year.

Fan lights are actually a bright white, they just appear kinda blue. Also, I wish I had a third display so I could take advantage of the AMD EyeFinity feature on the vid cards. Dual screens will do though

Abs False Activation

Ok, MC experts!

When hurricane Irene came through I had water half way up my wheels. My brakes seem to work ok except once in a while I get the ABS sound and feel in the pedal. This is on dry pavement. I hear the ABS modulator doing it's thing. No Low traction light and no other lights. Do you all think one or more of my wheel sensors are bad?

Hello everyone. I have to replace the lower intake gasket on my soon to be newly aquired 02 monte carlo and was wondering if it was worth tossing in pp'd uim, lim and a 65mm tb from mms as well as a intake kit? I have no other mods done to the car (not even exhaust-would be to loud for my kids). Also would i have to reprogram the pcm or will it adjust itself?

Thanks any and all for your help.
