Wow. IPS must have upped their licensing fee. Can't you still purchase a lifetime license?
I do not see a lifetime option on the licensing list for IPB.
License is like $100 per year and then it is another $70 for the gallery and blog program renewals per year, plus the yearly cost of hosting the site. It's not like we are trying to screw anyone out of money....no actual money is made off of MyMonte.com....we are merely asking for donations if people enjoy the site and feel that it is worth it...it is not as if we are forcing anyone to donate....
But we do appreciate it.
Please don't think I was trying to imply that you are scamming/profitting from the site.
I share in the angst of running sites.
Lots to do. I run my own servers as a developer/designer (primarily flash)
I used to run a few IP Boards a few years ago so I can certainly confirm the work it takes to run a site like this.
Then throwing in the blog and gallery modules only make it more complicated...user levels, restrictions, etc etc.
PITA!!
Then they have fixes/updates throughout the year. It helps if you undestand file structure and are able to run the update file or manually make the changes to the database yourself. IPS used to charge for updates made to your site if they had to do it.
Anyway...that was a few years ago. I know they changed their business model a bit.
They used to offer a lifetime license for like 3X the yearly price.
I just havent been on their site for awhile. Didn't know all the options they still offer.
That's all

Thanks for keeping things running smoothly!
EDIT:

TERM
Invision Power Board is offered under unique licensing. License terms are defined at the time of purchase and may or may not include technical support. License terms expire after a six month initial terms. At the end of this term, the current installed copy of the software may continue to be used under the terms of this Agreement. Unless renewed under the terms of the license purchased at the end of six months, IPS will not provide technical support or upgrades to the software.
Wow! Six month initial license? Thats definitely a new thing from what I remember.
But the board is still good after the license expires. Its just that you wont get updates to newer fixes/version of each module.
