Yeah the salt they use here is brutal too. There were no rust spots on my car till the first winter I had my car. Then it started. The two old couple that had the car before barely drove it in the winter. I drove it everyday of the week to and from work. This winter put even more of beating on it.

I hope to get it to a body shop and get the rust fixed. I don't have high hopes of it lasting.

Well it has been a little bit of time for sure since I have been around on the site, been too busy helping my buddy with the restaurant. The Lumina has now seen its last winter, well at least depending what I decide to do with it. On the same token though, I kinda excited for spring and I'm really hoping I can get it back onto the road and drive it again. As fun as stick is driving, the G3 sounds so....wimpy and it still is missing something that the Lumina has that I can't put my finger on. I still got time for figuring that out though. For now she sits, awaiting her triumphant return from her slumber under the grey sheet of my neighbour's driveway, ready to shred some tarmac and avoid the evil road salt that murders cars.

The plan is once I drive her again, having had a few months away to see how I feel. I want to take it in to a body shop and get their opinion on the current shape of things and go from there. All goes well I'll probably drive her for a couple months then start tearing into the repair work it desperately needs and the interior work I've wanted to get done. For now that stuff is cheapest. Going to build up the rest of the car for the engine. I wish I didn't have to keep shoving the engine plans back but ce la vie. Spring ho!

Just read through your whole thread and I'm loving how this Lumina's turning out! Easily goes on the list of the few Lumina's I'd drive, alongside Jay's Eric's, and Bronx's. Looks real good, especially keeping it legal from what I can see. Keep up the good work and please black out the roof and center part of the spoiler lol.

I miss my car I just read through my whole thread :(

Some updates though. Looks like its going to be sitting a bit longer than I would like. I've applied for school again on a different career path that will hopefully work out better for me. Assuming I get accepted that means I won't have the money to pull it out of storage until after school is over. I just realized to that given the time I won't be driving it she is getting very very close to her 20th birthday and taking that into account I've seen cars that are in worse shape from this century

Anyway I still haven't decided whether I am going to sell it or not, it is saving me money right now on insurance because I get a multi-vehicle discount so it won't be going anywhere for a couple months regardless. I definitely want to keep it if I can given how much work I have put in. If I do I would like to tear it down mostly to a shell and get the underside repaired, sandblasted and armor coated, get any more rust repaired and have new sheet metal put into the rear quarters. Get it a completely brand new suspension, including possibly a conversion to the gen II front chassis so I can get F-Body brakes and rear discs as well. Most importantly though, and this will make some people happy, I have changed my mind and decided to go the supercharged route for two reason, age and longevity. This car is getting old, and the aftermarket it has won't always be around and I figure the supercharged engine will probably have the longest lasting aftermarket of the current engine choices (if not the same length as some of the V8s that are STILL supported) which will allow me to keep the car for some time. Also, it'd just be cool to see in the engine bay. Anyway I'm still kicking around, just wanted to share my ideas and possibly bounce some ideas of those that are in a similar situation as me.

Well good luck at school, congrats on the new career path-- I wont tell you to keep it if that's the best life decision for you, but it would be a shame to see it go!

It's good to see that you're still around. I know exactly what it's like to go back to school for a career change. I went back to school full time when I was 23 and I'm going to be done next month. In April I'll be 26. It's difficult to do, but it's always good to have a degree these days and in the end I think you'll find that it's worth it to go back to school. I also think that you'll find that it's worth keeping your Lumina.

The L67 is a great choice for you. Like you said, the aftermarket is there for the 3800's and will be for awhile. I hope everything goes well for you and don't forget about us or the Lumina!

I'm really starting to love the stick shift, its hard for me to drive autos and not get bored now. I always viewed the Lumi as more a cruiser, but I think I may need to have a chat with kuntzie(?) about his stick swap in his GP, helps that he is VERY close to me. I did end up getting accepted, looks like a future in IT and networking for me!!

THREAD NECROMANCE!

Just didn't want to have to hunt for it when I post up some pics tomorrow. Not that it was extremely hard to find.

I took these over the summer, but got caught up with school and forgot to grab them from my sister. Used her awesome Nikon to take them as I wanted good images before I sold her. Still miss the car, always will, but the G3 has been treating me pretty good so far.

Yeah its amazing how far I went with that car looking back at it now. I definately miss that car, but I needed to move on from it and I don't regret that. Luckily for me its still nearby so I see it every once in awhile. The kid who has it now has so much more stereo in it already than I ever did. He's been taking good care of it too so it made its way to a good home. Oddly enough though I've moved way faster with the G3 than I ever did with the Lumina, I already have tint and a spoiler, and I've got a set of rims and stereo equipment lined up for the spring. I should be roughly where I was with the Lumina (minus paint) with this car by the end of the summer.

I want to thank EVERYONE on this forum for all the help and support they gave me throughout my ownership, car forums are one of the best thing to happen to the internet.
