Today my dad and I did a ton of work on my engine, Intake gasket was leaking so we to replace it, and since we were replacing that we also replaced the valve cover gaskets, changed wires and plugs,tranny fluid and filter and engine oil w/ filter. It took us about 5-6 hours total but it was definitly worth it, the engine seems to run  better, and shift a lil firmer. Does anybody have an idea how much money we saved since we did everything ourselves, i am guessing a couple hundred.

lets see shops charge like $60 per hour, *5 add a bs hour, so you say 6 hours at the shop = $3600, my math may be a little off, i don't take my car to shops anymore, they like to practice a sale tactic known as "ripping off."

Your math is way off. $60 x 6 = $360

it doesn't matter how long they take to do it, it's however long book-time says it is.  i'm sticking with 300-600

yeah, $3600 is kind of high. i probably have not put that much in my monte yet and that including the car and gas. typos happen from time to time.
