I was just thinking this would be a bad ass swap in my 97 lol what a sleeper. Is that possible tho or is the 97 engine bay smaller? I dont think it would be too difficult really if it will fit. Are the motor mounts pretty much the same though?

Guys im finding these drop outs in the 2-3k range damn thats not bad at all! The ls4 that is.

lol I know. Seriously, there's so many parts that you will need from an 06+ Monte or Impala that it would probably just be cheaper to buy an 06+ Monte or Impala SS used. There was a guy who swapped this engine into a fiero, and some of the things besides the engine that he need were, but not limited to; wiring harness (most of it had to be custom made by him), BCM off new car, TAC module, custom exhaust work, relocating a few things like the alternater, etc. Of course some of that was because it was a fiero, but you get the idea. In all honesty it would be so much easier, cheaper, and cost-effective to throw in an L67 with a few bolt ons. You can get a full L67 drivetrain (engine and tranny) for around a grand to 1500, and it will pretty much be ready to swap. Add a few bolt-ons and you are faster than an ls4.

what he said. Not saying it cannot be done. However that it hasn't been done. I can speak from experience when saying that being the first one to pull of a swap is no walk in the park and what I did was simple in comparison. From a bolt-in perspective, you would most likely need the cradle of the newer car as well as some customer brackets to make things work. It's also a VERY TIGHT fit for the OE cars' so expect some challenges with fitment and you may need to re-locate some things to make it work.

why not just get one that's been in an accident cheap? here's a few links i found that would work if someone had the time and money since you would probably need the car itself anyways.

Seriously tho, i think i remember seeing a 97-? GP on ebay that had the swap with a 5 speed if im not mistaken. Can you say perfect car?
