Would an LS4 front wheel drive engine fit on the same motor mounts as all the v6 engines in our cars? I was just wondering, cause im considering maybe dropping the ls4 into my car this up coming summer, and thats one of the deciding factors. also, what kind of other work (other than the transmission) would I have to do?
btw, its a 98 lumi

they should match up for the most part. Worst case scenario you would need the cradle from a newer monte along with the engine.

I would think the electrical/wiring would by far be way harder than worrying about the engine mounts.

With all the bugs people run into with an L67 swap (and thats pretty much a direct plug in/bolt in)- I would think the LS4 could be a good bit tougher.

I think it would be a cool idea- I'd just hate to be the person to bite the bullet and find out all the problems running through it for the first time.

reason being i said the motormount thing was more of a deciding factor is because i have alot more experience with wiring, and im fairly confident that i could figure that out. but, i have no welding experience (dont even know how, lol) and messing with the undercarriage/frame isnt exactly something i want to do.

Thanks for help. I wil continue to resarch this until I have found all the necassary info i need, lol. then I think i might carry on with the swap..and hopefully not have alot of bugs.

motor mounts arent as much of a problem really, at the end of the day if the engine fits in the bay you can fab up what you need to bolt the engine in safely

I would say from a fitment perspective you may have some challenges with the fit between the strut towers and firewall clearance

if you do decide to go forward with this let us know, many of us geeks will be happy to help do research

In a swap like this I would say make sure you have a second car and be prepared to not have this car running for 6 months to a year. To really figure it out you will need to make some best guesses on the stuff you will need and then just go ahead and start trying to drop it in and learning as you go.

Well, Ive decided to just go with a N/A 3800 or l67 (i prefer turbo over supercharger tho, so I'll prolly go with the l32 and turbo it later down the road) casue its a more realistic goal and an easier swap (so Ive read). Thanks for the knowledge tho. helped me to make a better decision.
