Subject: Chatter/Squeal Type Noise When Side Door Windows Are Lowered (Remove Lower Lip From Inner Belt Seal Strip)
Models: 2000 Chevrolet Monte Carlo
Condition:
Some customers may comment about a chatter/squeal type noise as the windows are cycled downward. This condition may be worse in wet conditions.
Correction:
Use the following procedure to correct this condition:
Removal Procedure:
Remove the upper trim panel screw and the upper trim panel (mirror patch).
Remove the door handle bezel screw and the bezel.
Remove the door handle screws.
Remove the push-type fasteners from the inner panel. Remove the trim panel.
Remove the inner belt seal strip.
With the inner belt seal removed, use a utility knife in order to remove the lower lip from the seal.
Installation Procedure:
Install the inner belt seal strip.
Install the trim panel using the push-type fasteners.
Install the door handle screws.
Install the door handle bezel and the screw.
Install the upper trim panel (mirror patch) and the screw.
