Big question with the cancelation of the monte and the GP gone.... is anything still gonna use the LS4? or has this new engine been kicked after spending all that R&D money? Great going GM. reminds me of the LQ1 all the hopes and dreams of design and poop.

Impala SS still gets it. I don't think all that much was spent on R&D for the LS4. Certainly didn't measure up to the failure that was the LQ1.

Of course, with all of these engines, the R&D goes into better, future products. It's not like they start from scratch every time.

the rwd version is in alot of trucks and suvs. It actually predates the FWD version by a few years.

just curiosity, but do you think this could go into a 5th gen? i'd imagine wiring being the hardest part, assuming the 6.5 gens are on a w body still

i like the engine also, except the RWD version had a few with a bad cast for the heads, my moms 05 sierra started sounding like a thrashing machine when it was cold.. still under warranty so a few weeks later we got it back with new heads and valve covers... the bad cast left a poris spot that would ooz oil wile it was running, but i have herd of these engines going to 400K mi

That's not the same engine in the Sierra, that engine has an iron block and different heads although they are all based off the same platform.

what i was asking, just idle curiosity, is if anyone knows if someone had dropped the ls4 in a 5th gen, or even the earlier 6th gen?

6th gen has been done- I've seen a straight LS4 into a 6th gen and an impala (the guy with the impala swapped in the latest gen impala dash and stuff too- kinda nasty), then I know of a 6th gen with a turbo'd, destroked ls7.

Don't think an LS4 5th gen has been done, but I think it would be neat!

Neat it would be for sure but IMO isn't worth the money (alot) and time spent trying to get everything to work (drive by wire, wiring in a bcm to allow the pcm to start the engine, etc.). I know its been beaten like a dead horse, but an L67 swap would be much more cost effective and have the same, if not greater potential, for alot cheaper.

Although nothing can beat the rumble of a v8.

IMO it would sound better and not so 'truck like' if it was through true duals instead of the single.

X2, even with a recall I wouldn't take my monte to any mechanic to work on it
