Ok, I have a 2001 Monte SS, and I had to replace the battery today (old one was complete junk), and after I replaced it, my Trunk Open light in the message center came on and has been beeping since. Now, I know the trunk isn't open, I've checked and its clearly shut tight, and this annoying flashing light and beeping is beginning to drive me to madness, how would I go about taking care of this little problem?

thats verry odd but i think its a coincidence.
there must be a button or part of the latch that has wires running to it. if its the latch there will be 2 or 3 wires. one ground (if necessary, it may be grounded directly to the lid in the latch itself). one 12 volt that runs to your trunk release button and possibly one that the info center uses to see if the lid is open. if those check out with specs (use a multimeter to test the wire, with the button for the trunk release held down, and you should get 12 volts). then there also may be some sort of a button, kinda like your fridge light, that is pressed down when the lid is closed fully.
also you could have simply popped a fuse. check em all out.
good luck. a constant alarm would have me searching frantically to fix it.

116,000 miles. stock engine. Alpine 7875. Diamond audio M6 components and 6x9s. 2 Type R 10s. Old rockford bd 500 and an older kicker 250w 2 channel. It still rattles everywhere.

update:
- I tried checking all fuses, none of them were blown
- everything appears to check out with the multimeter
- I tried disconnecting and reconnecting the battery, both with the trunk open and closed (it started acting up like this when we first jumped the old battery to get it to Autozone)
- tried resetting the computer through the radio (long shot, but felt worth a try) and nothing
- tried this fix from Yahoo Answers "I would look for a pressure switch somewhere around the rim of the trunk lid. If the car has a trunk light and you find the switch, depressing the switch should turn off the trunk light to test to see if the switch works. If it does, tape it down and start the car to see if you still get the error message. If no message, should be a mechanical issue causing the the switch to not be pushed far enough. If no switch or light in the trunk, pick up a Chiltons or other repair manual at the local AutoZone" and it didn't work either.
Thanks for your suggestions, but if anyone else has any other ideas, feel free to throw them out there. Even if I can disable the beeping sound for now, I'd be satisfied until I find a proper fix for this.

My 2000 SS does something kinda similar. It just randomly decides that whenever I hit a bump or something that the message will flash and it'll beep at me. Then it turns back off until the next bump. All I've ever had to do was just open the trunk and close it "solidly" lol. That fixes it for the next few weeks.

update:
So nothing has really worked to fix this problem so far, but one thing I did to make it stop (although not a proper fix by any means) was that I pulled the DIC/RKE fuse on the passenger side. I thought if I were to disable the Driver Info Center, it would stop the dinging, and it worked. It now says in the Info Center "Service Vehicle Soon" , but since I know the cause of that and its not dinging at me every few seconds, I can deal with it for now.
How would I go about rigging up the wires so it thinks the latch is closed? I lack experience in the electronics area
