thats exactly how i have it lol
the plexi is deep in the cd holder, the suction mount for my gps is mounted thru the back side of the plexi, and i can always remove the unit and leave the mount in there whenever I want without touching the plexi.. its been in there snug for over a year and a half now
when i leave it on the dock, it is wired to come on with the car, and the audio (turn by turn, buetooth, etc) plays thru my car speakers

nope I left it in there, and the plexiglass is self secured by pushing it in when you mount it in the cd holder, because the cd holder gets smaller it gets deeper

Bronx... using the plexi is a much better way then what I was going to do lol. I was just going to screw the bottom part of the holder right into the back of the hole haha.
Thanks for the tip.

haha no problem... to clarify a little more... i cut the plexi the basic shape of the cd holder, just smaller... then cut a hole in the middle of it, so I could put the navi mount thru it. The suction cup on the back side of the plexi... but measure everything out VERY CAREFULLY, because you wont have much room to work with for the suction cup...
the original way I had it too using plexi worked fine as well.... cut it the size of one of the tape slots in the back (had to double up to make it thick enough to fit securely in place)
and then just put the section cup right on top of that and positioned the mount so that the navi was about even with the opening of the console

TV in mine. That was actually my first fiberglass project ever.
I'd like to redo it now though, I want to fiberglass the face of the TV into it, so all you see is the screen and buttons.

Just ran across this thread, but i've never seen a monte with the window controls in the Center console, i may just be dumb. Did u make a custom top for it or something?

idk but it think thats custom, driver side masterswitch+alot of work=^^^^^^^
i just painted a piece of plywood black and screwed it on the back where the casset holder part goes on and put 2 screws in it that my GPS hangs on like a picture frame... harder to see from the outside of the car, but angled perfect for the driver

Hey quick question... That interior looks to be the same color as mine, Federal blue/ navy. Did your console come in that navy color or did you spray it and if so what shade was it? Thanks!

It is fiberglassed. I took the ash tray out, and cut out the cupholder (never used it anyways, since its not my daily driver)- pretty much cut everything flush from the bottom- did a couple layers of fiberglass matte from the bottom, then a skim coat of body filler across the top to level it all out to stock. Then I just made a template based off the factory hole- and cut a new hole with a dremel. Came out pretty well, and it makes the interior look a little cleaner.

Thanks for the compliments on it. My fiberglass doors didn't require it, I just saw some car with the switches in the center (early 90's 2 door GP maybe?)- and thought, why would I have to have 2 switches, and why do I need an ash tray? So I deleted the holes in the doors just to clean them up- and just moved the drivers switch to the center. I removed the passenger switch (think I had to jumper a few of the wires to make it still operate the passenger window w/o the switch plugged in. It came in handy too because I installed a window control module for my alarm about the same time- and it was nice being able to tap into all the wires with them only running a foot away instead of having to snake wires to both doors and such.

Thanks- that was what I was going for. I'd rather someone who didn't know the difference just be like- 'that looks clean', but for someone that actually owns the car to go wtf?

I would assume it'd work fine - I keep mine in the cubby hole under my Aeroforce gauge, and it works just fine.
