they specialize in the 3x00 60v6 engines and there are quite a few people there who can tell you all about it. Be sure to search their forum, lots of good hardcore tech info there.

Last I heard, he was kicking himself in the butt for not doing a full 3500 instead.
That's what I had planned on swapping into my 96 before I bought the Monte.
Now I'm selling both L-bodies as-is.
I have plans for that Monte, though ... when the engine dies.
Something never attempted before, or at least I haven't heard of it yet.
