Looking to get some new tires this winter/spring and was looking for some good options/opinions/advice. I'm looking for an all-season performance tire. They will be used for winter and then on the strip during the summer. Let me know!

Size 235/55-17

Pricing doesn't really matter, just looking for some opinions.

I don't know about at the track, but I'm a fan of my Eagle GT's... I'll get the names of what my brother and dad bought too. (they each bought different all season performance)

I'm looking at some Pirelli P-Zero Nero's for ~$120 each installed here in town. I have heard good things about those, but was just curious if anyone had any other reviews. CGP seems to like these well also, but that doesn't mean to much.

from what I've heard those aren't much of a snow/ice tire though.

Well they have to be better than the slicks I am running on now lol. I drive rather cautiously during the winter so they don't have to be the best snow tire out there. My main thing is that I was going to get the OE Goodyear Eagle RS-A, but I think there may be better tire choices out there for the same price as though which are a little over $200 each.

I read a few reviews on these from tire rack but didn't know anyone with them. Which Pilot's do you have? I was looking at the Pilot Sport A/S Plus because of the traction ratings.

I just have the A/S ones, not the plus. they were on closeout for like $139 i think it was... and the plus's were close to $300. easy decision there haha.. but yeah in the dry its hard to make them spin, whereas my old falkens i could smoke them easily. great in the rain too.. for the price you cant go wrong. i priced them at sears they were ~$400 each, and merchants ~$365.. so i went home and bought them that night on tirerack haha.

well $41 bucks more for the plus's in the size you need it looks like.. not too bad. only difference in them is they last longer it looks like

Yeah, if I was going to get those, I would get the plus. The ratings do say they last longer, but then again, it's just a rating.

yeah thats true. well the A/S's are 400 and the plus's are 500, so they should definitely last longer for sure.

you're lucky yours are cheaper! haha

I loved the police issue RS-A plus. It feels like a totally different tire IMO.
I've also said in a dozen other threads that you cannot beat a dedicated snow tire. I've used a couple different kinds and for the price nothing has beaten studded winterforces

I would love to have a dedicated snow tire, it's just the money situation has me out for the moment.

This is the list that I think I have narrowed it down to. I think that both Goodyear's are out after I talked to a few of my friends who had both sets and said that they wear out pretty fast and are pretty loud. This backed up the info I found on CGP about the F1's.

On my motorcycle I rock Michelin Pilot Powers. Don't know how similar they the Pilot sport car tire is. Mine of course are mainly warm weather only but great tire.

The Monte just has Tire Discounter Kelly Navigator Gold. Nothing fancy but good tire thus far. Had for a few years.

Sounds like you need 2 sets though. How bad are your current tires? Could you save for winter and summer set?

The set on my car now will need to be replaced come this spring. I wouldn't mind having two sets of wheels and tires but I am trying to find a decent winter beater and won't need a set of winter tires if I have a separate car for winter driving.

I like the Toyo 'Proxie' series, Proxies or Proxie4, also Nexxen makes a great tire for the money (according to the guys at the tire shop I work at)
Cracka Thin & 'Scarlet'

Torch Red/Gray 1996 Monte Carlo LS. (purchased 9/09)

Pioneer CD player - blacked out trunk panel
Blacked out front interior/dash - removed grille cover

um, sorry... I deleted your list Cak... don't ask.

My GT's don't seem loud, but I don't know about the wear yet. I know Goodyear makes some crappy tires, but IMO GT's are a good tire.

pirellis wear so fast... I had michelin pilot sport A/S plus on the 19s on my G and i love them.... now with the 20s i bought I have continental extreme contact DWS.... unbeleivable reviews in all sorts of weather, 50,000 mile tread warranty, and theyre really quiet, especially considering i have low profile

i was skeptical because of continental's past tires but these reviews across the board are at the top

lol. It's alright.

I'm just going from what I have heard a few people tell me. Granted they are a very small percentage of the owners, but two of them are managers at Discount Tire. They didn't say they were bad tires, but that they probably weren't the best choice for me.

Well I have narrowed it down to the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S regulars or plus, and the Continentals. I saw the Continental's a couple days ago, but like you said, they don't/didn't have too good of a past and I was hesitant. It depends on how much Mr. Obama wants to give me back on come tax time.

Thanks for the help guys.

$160 verse $200. I'm running a poll on a local forum and seeing what they use, but so far it's those or maybe the Continental ExtremeContact DWS and these are roughly $190.

cak---- about the DWS, ive been checking the reviews periodically and still all good things... what sold me on them is that it has a 50,000 mile warranty... they wouldnt give that guarantee if it wasnt a good tire....

Yeah I'm still really contemplating these also. The reviews are awesome for them. Tirerack has them on backorder, and I will have to ask my friend what kind of deal he can get me on them.
