Well as lame as it is one of my friends that had a (3400) cut a half inch-ish by about an inch slot out his exhaust right in front of the muffler... And it sounded just like another friends brothers (3800) couple hundred dollar exhaust. So maybe you'd like to try something stupid like that before you spend money on something. Also idr what type MagnaFlow mufflers we had on our Elcamino (350) and it sounds really nice. Spent under or around $100 a muffler. probably less

I think Flowmasters are the pick of the litter among Monte owners, the 40 series I think is what a lot of people use. Magnaflow I'm sure has some good one too, I don't know for sure though cuz I got the 3.4 and I don't even have mufflers in my new setup but it still sounds good and it's relatively loud

I don't have a sound clip but just replaced the muffler and that's it. No drone. Sound at idle was ideal for what I wanted with a light growl/rumble I guess you could say but sounded very good and not to loud at speed.

Sorry, but I don't have a sound clip either, but - I had a Flowmaster Deltaflow 40 Series on my 3100, and it sounded GREAT.

jaybaum96 now I'm confused what engine you have? lol all the work you've done (which looks very good I might add). I had a friend that had a beater Lumina with 3100 and the exhaust fell off. He then cut it and just attached a pipe he found. Now this car was rough by all means, it had trouble going over 40 mph. But it sounded horrible "stright piped". But suprisingly not all that loud. Of course I have another friend with a straight piped Durango done the right way that sounds awesome but is loud.

yea its hard to make the 3800 sound good, but i think what im gonna do is cut the muffler off only the muffler, see how it sound and then add an aftermarket one if i dont like how it sounds

EDIT: oh and iv been meaning to ask, is it 2.5in. or 2.25in.

Straight piped, these motors do not sound too good. I had my muffler off for about a month and just new piping out the back and it personally sounded like ass. That's when I switched to my 50 series which I loved.

A 50 series would have fit??? Unless they didn't have the right size in stock. Congrats on the purchase though and I'm glad you like it.

Did they actually weld the muffler up there, or just clamp it? Congrats on the new exhaust though.

The only difference I know of is sound. The 40 series are quite a bit louder than the 50 series.

My buddy has an impala ('01) it has dual thrush turbos, high flow cat, borla pipes, and monte carlo ss tips. Sounds like a V8.

I have a flowmaster df 40 series flowmaster, and a highflow cat. sounds great. but soon to be dual 50 series flowmasters. :)

So you are happy with they way it turned out and don't want to get a dual muffler setup? I want to do my exhaust once and not wish I would have done it different. I am looking to get an exhaust system off of a Z34 or a lumina ltz and just replace the mufflers to make it sound better.

well yea id like duals, but all i did it for was the sound, i was perfectly happy withe the factory one but i jus wanted it to be louder and spend as little as possible without just hacking off the muffler
