1 ... What draws your interest in a gathering?
2 ... What keeps your interest in a gathering for you to attend as planned?
3 ... Are you interested in a MidSummer Chitown gathering in Elgin IL, July TwentyTen?
Depending on the responses, I may arrange a July 24 (or 31) gathering, in Elgin IL, for MULTIPLE boards (car- and heart-related, etc.), starting at 11a with a short drive ... and lasting into the evening.
Recent gatherings....

I was kind of dissapointed that you told me you werent interested in doing another meet like that last year because of the poor turnout in people/cars....
but got to eat, hang out and see other monte's and finally meet some of you on the boards
I will probably end up bringing more friends with next time, I only brought my g/f last summer and her dad came with his 07 SS so all in all it was a good time. definetly worth comin to again in my opinion.

I'd definitely stop by for awhile, it was a little disappointing with the smaller crowd last year, but I would have come either way.
Good to know. Would you believe I had some people tell me they did not come because it looked to be such a small gathering? Please ... if everyone felt that way, we'd have NO gathering....
*rolls eyes*
Maybe it might be better to do it at a forest preserve this time, people seem more willing to 'chill out' sometimes if you do that instead. You've mentioned raceway woods before, I don't remember where that is, but that's something that's still on my list of places to see.
Raceway Woods is in Carpentersville, near Spring Hill Mall, but neither of the 2 parking lots is paved ... or, for that matter, is big enough to hold a gathering, even the size of the one we had last year.... I still want to go there and walk around though.....
As for the forest preserve, I've thought about that ... but I don't relish the thought of having to make sure things are cleaned up. I mean, I did to some extent at Steak'n'Shake, but not as much as I'd have to if it were at a forest preserve...

I had a good time and would be highly interested in coming out again. although Im not gonna lie, I would probably bail out if it was supposed to rain and I know you like to make these a rain/shine event...
Hmph ... you should come even if it is raining! But, glad you are interested in joining us again!
I was kind of dissapointed that you told me you werent interested in doing another meet like that last year because of the poor turnout in people/cars....
I remember you telling me that. I'm sorry, but to some extent, it isn't worth it to put all the work into getting something set up ... mention it to the different boards ... and then a) not have many people show up and
definetly worth comin to again in my opinion.
*grins*
Can I quote ya on that?
OK ... so, it seems we have SOME interest in this. I've spoken with my contact at Steak'n'Shake; we can hold the gathering there again. However ... I'll check out other places along Randall Rd / US Route 20.
FOR NOW...
...if you are interested in a MidSummer Chitown Gathering #3, please speak up NOW...
...save SATURDAY, JULY 24, 2010 ... just in case. My vision for the gathering: start at 11a, with a brief drive, then back to Steak'n'Shake (or gathering restaurant/area) for lunch and meet'n'greet the rest of the day/evening....

it was awesome to see what others are doing with their MC's, like that one guy with the red 6th gen monte who had that gator glass molded into the body so all his emblems lit up at night...that kinda stuff is cool to see and gauges my interest in what and how other people are doing things with similar cars.
also that meet is what sold me on the idea of doing my motor swap for sure, when I saw that silver 6th gen and the black intimidator both pushing well over 300HP out of a V6...droollll
but im suprised to see that nobody else on here even remotely interested in this event?????
the midwest, illinois and southern wisconsin especially, are in high population with monte's...hell last year someone drove from michigan

...and that someone from MI is, as far as I know now, planning to be there again this year.
I think part of the problem is a lack of "talking it up". I know quite a few people enjoyed the first year and told me so. Yet, I didn't see much chatter about it on the boards. And, since, in most cases, that means I'm the only one posting in the thread ... be it a reminder, new information, pictures, etc. ... it kinda makes it look like a non-fun gathering....and thus, in part, the huge drop in attendees the second year (to around 20)....
*shrugs*
But ... whatever. Or, maybe it's me ... lol.
OK guys ... if my math serves me correctly, ~40 people from ~15 different groups/boards have indicated an interest in the MidSummer Chitown Gathering #3. Not too bad, but that's about 3 people per board....
IF this happens, it...
...will be at Steak'n'Shake (other restaurants/facilities are in the immediate area if you want to eat somewhere else)
...most-likely will be July 24
...will start ~10:30a, with a brief cruise around some "back roads" in the area starting at 11a, returning to Steak'n'Shake ~noon or 12:30p for lunch and meet'n'greet the rest of the day
If I plan this, I will post a NEW topic in a few weeks..... So, if you're interested ... speak up NOW!!!
