Dude I don't suggest cutting your shaft.... It might hurt. Anyway, yeah it should fit cuz I have a stock GA shifter in my Monte and it fit just fine. Yer gonna want to get a shift boot though otherwise it'll look like doo-doo, I used one from a GP cuz I didn't cut the shaft down.

check the nut on the rack and see if it's wet down there. That's where they like to leak.

One of these days I'm gonna cut the shaft down and grab a shift boot out of a Grand Am cuz personally i think that will look better than what I have now. There's another idea for ya Devin

If you got a salvage yard near by just go grab one from there, that's where I got the shift knob (for $10) and they said I could also have the Grand Am shift boot for $10 whenever I get around to it. I bought my GP boot off a guy on CGP for $12 shipped

You have to be 18 to go to a Pull-it-yourself place? Are they all like that or just that one? Either way that's kinda BS, I just have salvage yards around here and some things they'd rather you do yourself but most they get for you so of course they can charge more and don't get ripped off. Put up some pictures when you get it done
