I am going to wager it has something todo with the remote starter. If it is aftermarket and it does not work right anyway I would say to remove it before troubleshooting further.

after market remote starters for 00+ cars require both a control and a security bypass module wired into the ignition system.

I would be surprised if one just unplugged easily though I haven't done any of those kinds of installs.

The security system bypass module is usually the culprit as it relies on a timer that might fail or be inconsistent.

Beyond that, standard stuff, is it even trying to crank? Is the starter getting power? Do you hear the fuel pump? Any blown fuses on ign system components?

Have you tried another key if you have a backup?

My 2000 does this occasionally too, and for a while i suspected it might be the factory antitheft system. However, I have so many electrical gremlins at the moment I can't say for sure. Posted Image

IIRC, if the starter solenoid is engaging but the engine is not turning over then it would be your starter motor since I don't think the starter solenoid would engage at all if it was a security issue.

I had the same problem with my 03 Impala and it was my factory security system. I had several keys made and I guess after I programming I screwed up the bypass module. When I used the original key it would work fine but if I let it sit a week and used a copied key the security light would come on and it would not start. The keys were programmed and everything but still had the problem.

Replaced the security module and replaced the key switch since they go bad after a while.

No not the BCM I meant to say pass lock sensor. I had to call one of the Chevy techs at work to get the proper name for the part they replaced on my Impala.

Thats because you don't have one.

00+ have theft lock and it is an integrated component in your BCM.

So what parts were replaced on my car? I had my car fixed by a Tech at a Chevy dealership and now I am wondering what really happened if there is no sensor for the passloc or theft lock or whatever it is called. I called him to verify what he did and I posted the response I was given.

I called another tech at the Chevy dealership and he said try this:
1. Attempt to start the car, let it stall, but DO NOT turn the key off! Leave it in RUN.
2. Wait 10 minutes or until the Theft Sys light glows steady instead of blinking.
3. Do not turn the key off, but start it immediately.
4. This should reset your Passlock system.

I also found this link that says the same thing basically.

ok looking in to the remote start a little further i have found that the only wire that has been cut not just tied into is a 22ga wire that goes into the lock cylinder its self not the ignition switch what do the three wires that are wired in to the lock cylinder run to (the wire that is cut runs to the aftermarket pass lock boxs for the remote start then back out to where ever)
