I have always been confused on this issue, and I am doing alot more with our website we have at work...
I am taking pictures of motorcycle parts and putting them on the web. When they come off the camera they are huge obviously.
what is the proper way to resize them down for the web? it has to fit a 8.5 X 11 sheet of paper
For example:

That switch is ten times bigger then it should be..
How do I get it to stay in proportion with the sheet of paper.

Note: I didn't see where you said it had to fit 8.5 x 11.
By size being too big, what do you mean?? File size??? or actual size??

Actual size
In this company, Scaled drawings and pictures are very important.
Here was the problem that I was facing today.

I want to put all of the tools we have in a collage thing. Just to show all the parts we sell.
I started doing that today.. taking new pictures of the parts because they were done with a sh*tty camera at the time and most of them are blury..
I would pull the pictures in and put them on the paper.
I did two wrenches same size everything, just one was 1-7/8 and one was 1-13/16.. The 1-7/8 Photo was noticeably smaller...
I just want to take pictures so they are in reason of all being proportionately shown!
Sorry for the lack of information.
