Greetings all,

I know it's been done before, but I thought I'd share some pics from my last few nights worth of work. The project was to take this...

...and replace all the burned out bulbs. I decided to do a LED upgrade a la BBEngineering.com. I started with the Climate Control cluster ('cause I figured it was a cheaper replacement if I screwed up). BBEngineering doesn't show a guide for the polarity of the circuit board, but I managed to wing it. Then I moved on to the cluster as per BBEngineereing, replacing all of the non-LED bulbs with blue 5mm (6000mcd) LEDs except for the High beam (used White 3mm 6000mcd LED). Next, I replaced the illumination bulbs in the heated seat switches with 3mm blue LED. Lastly, I added 3 blue 5mm LEDS under the Shifter Indicator and white LED to indicate the current gear.

In the pics, the cluster and climate modules look purple, but are actually the same blue as the floor shifter indicator.

Left to do:

Trac Off Switch (in console)
Door Switches (windows and locks)
Dash Switches (Fog, headlight/dome light)
Steering wheel controls ( <--really not looking forward to this)

Very nice. I was planning on doing the exact same thing but I don't trust myself with it. That and I also need to replace the stepper motor motor for the speedometer. Looks good though and good work.

That's pretty cool. I can imagine the steering wheel controls will be the hardest.

Actually, it wasn't that tough. The Climate Control cluster is a bit sensitive because the circuit board material is kinda like cardboard and the traces are very easy to damage. The Cluster was actually pretty easy. I can't imagine a stepped motor would be much more difficult.

Ya, sux you can't change the colour of the odometer panel. Might play with a transparent overlay to colour shift it. Unfortunately, the LEDs are also a slightly different blue then the lighting of my headunit, so my hopes for uniformity across all the lighting are lost.

check the nut on the rack and see if it's wet down there. That's where they like to leak.
