As you all may remember from a recent post, there was a Z34 Monte Carlo nearby where I live for free to a good home, plus a tow bill. I have been working diligently on it over the past few days in between some family stuff going on. It still needs a transmission, speakers, windshield, and an array of little things to get it where I want it, but for $54, my dad is thrilled!

So here she is, 98 Z34 with 164k when I first got it last Monday.

And today, 2/25 I buffed it out, and did a super cleaning on the interior.

The console lid is horrible, yes. I need to make a hinge for it. My design will be better than GM's ( I hope anyways )

The Z34 looks pretty good. Especially the wheels. I wish mine still looked like that.

Thanks! I used to manage the detail shop at my dealership, but have been promoted since... so I used to do all the detailing on all of the cars, and believe me, I've detailed far worse than this one.

I'm not sure what he wants to do. It already has a Dorman upper intake on it. I think he wants to do a Powerlog, better exhaust, and reflash the computer.

And he is TOYING with the idea of top-swapping.... but I don't think he will.

Thought I'd turn this into a project thread. Got the transmission in on it. First transmission I got from the junkyard had 77k on it, and it was bad. Junkyard replaced it for free with a 60k transmission, and on their test drive it died, and they towed it back for try number 3. This current transmission has 121k, and drives very nice. Still a few gremlins with it, such as needing emergency brake cables throughout, rear hub, rear brakes and a windshield, but honestly, it's typical maintenance stuff that needs to be done anyways with 164k. I also have another set of these machined face wheels that are mint; they will go on once the remnants of the salt on the road around here goes away.

Onto some pics from this morning:

And I installed a new sunroof, so this doesn't leak, and functions as it should now.

You know with all the 'being green' hype that has been going on for the last few years, nobody really mentions how doing what you're doing is very environmentally responsible... this car would likely have been another one sent to the crusher if you didn't save it.

Yes, got the entire interior from three cars actually. The entire interior minus the sunroof, driver's seat and headliner came from a 98 or 99 black Z34. The carpet came from a black 95 LS (still needs to be installed, will do that this week), and the rest came from a torch red 97 Z34.
