Sooo I work atg Napa now and for some reason I cant figure this out for the like of me. Everyone says to use Autolite 104's but when I look up plugs out part number says 606. So im guessing the theyre the same thread and length but the actually resistance and metal in them make them a "colder" plug? So should I use 104's from now on?

A little off topic, but if you are looking for plugs for the lumina, those are too cold. However, I can't really answer on whether the 606's are the same as the 104's.

AL606s are two steps warmer than the 104s. 606s or 605s are what you want for a n/a 3800, I'm assuming this is the engine you have? If you have a 3100 then I think its a completely different plug.

An AL 606 is a stock heat range. Then it goes to 605, then down another heat range to 104's. Honestly, 605's are probably the most appropriate plug - unless this 3800's going to be boosted.

Well if your motor isnt modded, then just run stock plugs in it, until you do start the mods, this way you dont risk having anything screwed up. Plugs arnt expensive, and it's better to spend an extra 20 on the right thing twice than to run the wrong thing and regret it down the line..

Like mentioned already, if you haven't done much, just use the recommended plugs. Also, the 3100 and 3800 use the same plugs and have the same gap ( .060" ).

If you really want our help- you need to stop being so vague with your responses. We can't tell you that you should or shouldn't use 104's because we have no mod list. Sure 104's will thread in and the engine will run- but if you put them on a nearly stock engine, you'll end up fouling them out pretty quick- even if its going to get all kinds of mods later. On the flip side- if its going to be 'pretty modded', maybe 103's would be better, or maybe stock heat range would work? Is your definition of pretty modded a G5 M90 w/ a full size IC, XPZ, Tog extremes, S4 aluminum heads, and a 100 shot of nitrous- or is pretty modded a 3.4" pulley, plog, dp, tstat, plugs, FWI, catback exhaust, modded stock rockers, dhp pcm, etc?

Also- are you doing all of these 'pretty modded' mods at the same time as the plugs? If not, match the plugs to the current setup, and change plugs as mods change- they're dirt cheap, some people even change them every oil change.

really the original question was that if the 606,605,105,104's were the same plug but just got colder in temp. Sorry guys i'm not new. I know what to run and when to run it. It was just a basic dumb plug question. But you all answered my question. My new lumina will be boosting eventually but i just wanted to know what was up the the numbers.

Thanks for the info tho!!
