my 1999 monte carlo z34 has over 130,000 miles, to you recommend changing the timing chain, is it to complicated for the do it yourself mechanic?

As long as you can time the cam correctly, no.

its not that complcated but all in all its not a high failure peice on the car. If you were installing a cam or something than yes i would say buy new.

If it ain't broke don't fix it. I don't think I've ever heard of a stock timing chain failing on a stock motor.

I'm still rocking a stock timing chain and I've already been through a cam swap, I'm freshly boosted, and the Monte has 140k+ miles on it with no problems in site. I wouldn't be worried about it if I were you.

lol. I thought about saying something similar 3800power. If you need help with it a Haynes manual will be enough to guide you through it.
