i know flowmaster 40 series sound awsome on the 3.1.. but i also know its hard to make the 3.8 sound good, a resonator would make it a little quieter but it would take the rasp out of it more than anything.my buddys GPGT has strait pipes from the cat back and it sounds pretty good, pretty loud too

It had sidepipes the last time I saw it... Did Dan change it? I don't remember.

Generally anything you add to the setup as I saw it last would make it quieter.

Is it just running straight out the downpipe?

If so, just pick up / make any standard cat-back exhaust system and you will quiet it down very quickly.

A resonator isn't really made for quieting down the exhaust- that is the muffler's job; a resonator is more to eliminate a specific tone from the exhaust- and they're usually straight through open inside.

We can't tell you what muffler to get- that's personal preference. As said above- check out youtube and see what muffler brand you like on 3800s.

Personally, I hate the magnaflow muffler on my monte- the rasp is real bad at part throttle. Only reason why I got it is because it was the aftermarket muffler that made my car the quietest at idle and low rpm out of the 4 or 5 mufflers the exhaust shop had in stock that would fit my car.

I had the stock downpipe, no cat, to a cherrybomb, to the side pipes.

But I had installed my MMS 3 inch catted down pipe and just ran 3 inch pipe to a dump under the car.

Its not that loud lol

Just pimp around with an open cutout. That'll be loud and obnoxious. Guaranteed to give you a headache within 30 seconds of driving.

I love my GMPP Exhaust, purchased it through summit racing.

I tried to make an exhaust video, but honestly when it's idling you can hardly hear it.

Personally my favorites are the flowmaster 40 series, or 44's. I have the 40's on my car with a resonator delete. Mrclean has 44's on his car if im right and he has a resonator delete and they are pretty quiet compared to mine, but he has a stock dp and stock cat. Try looking up some grand prix's on youtube for a sound you like...
