Generally anything you add to the setup as I saw it last would make it quieter.

If so, just pick up / make any standard cat-back exhaust system and you will quiet it down very quickly.

A resonator isn't really made for quieting down the exhaust- that is the muffler's job; a resonator is more to eliminate a specific tone from the exhaust- and they're usually straight through open inside.

We can't tell you what muffler to get- that's personal preference. As said above- check out youtube and see what muffler brand you like on 3800s.
Personally, I hate the magnaflow muffler on my monte- the rasp is real bad at part throttle. Only reason why I got it is because it was the aftermarket muffler that made my car the quietest at idle and low rpm out of the 4 or 5 mufflers the exhaust shop had in stock that would fit my car.

I had the stock downpipe, no cat, to a cherrybomb, to the side pipes.
But I had installed my MMS 3 inch catted down pipe and just ran 3 inch pipe to a dump under the car.
Its not that loud lol

I tried to make an exhaust video, but honestly when it's idling you can hardly hear it.
