Just got the car back from the shop today after the headers were installed. Everything looks good, but the car isn't running the greatest. I keep getting a cylinder 6 misfire code popping up. Also, while I'm driving, the SES light will flash under heavier to full throttle.

Symptoms include sluggish off the line under heavy/full throttle, rpm's bounce up and down by 200 right around 2500 rpm's, SES light flashes under harder acceleration and full throttle. That is all that I can think of now.

I did just put new plugs on (AL104's) and new wires during the header install. After I get off I will be pulling the #6 plug out to see how it looks. Other than the problems mentioned, cruising is just fine as long as the rpm's stay low. If I go WOT, it will be a little sluggish around the 2500 mark, but then seems to run fine on the top end.

I will be dynoing in the morning (hopefully) so I plan on getting the kinks out of it tonight.

The SES light flashing is for the misfire, meaning it's missing bad enough to damage your cat if you still have one. Check the basics first, like plugs and wires. My car did just what you describe and it ended up being a bad plug wire.

Maybe a plug is loose, check the connections. Worst case possible you may have gapped your number 6 plug too big...

Try a different plug/wire on 6 and see if the misfire moves with it or if it is the coil pack.

First stop driving your car if the engine light is flashing.

Did you look at cylinder 6 plug wire to make sure it isn't sitting up against the header melting it? Have you checked for spark?

I don't have a cat to worry about now and all I have done is drove the car home. The plug wire doesn't look to be hitting the header. I will pull the plug when I get off at eight tonight. I will check the plug and wire then. I will test to see if the old wire will do anything different.

Alright, well when I got home I switched out plug wires and still had the problem, and it was a little worse now at idle. I then changed out the #6 plug for a new AL104 and the car runs much better. The plug just must have been a bad plug because it was new as of Tuesday, along with the plug wires. I took it out and it looks fine but that was the culprit. Thanks for the help guys!
