P0404

Looked it up, EGR.
Searched, and found a post from 2005 from buck saying "P0404 - get rid of EGR, get a pcm that will have the codes deleted (or you can fix it). Probably need a new EGR."
So my question is, why did this not throw a ses light? is it ok to leave this since im going to be topswaping? should i just ditch the EGR when i swap? can i clear the code out, or should i not?
Thanks!

My motor to this day is still cleaner than yours is, for that reason right there. EGR's are useless, but you know it all. Make sure you keep it with your IC too Matt.

Lol, that's funny cause when you saw a picture of my motor torn down your exact words were "I gotta admit your motor is alot cleaner inside than mine"
Mine's off because I have an ic and don't want it to get clogged.

Ya and he's not asking about his scan gauge either
I don't know why it didn't trip the SES. You can't read freeze frame data on that scanner can you? That could tell you how long ago it failed. It could just be in the history from a long time ago.

404 funny not found?

Disagree- it helps with gas mileage. I definitely agree to get rid of it if you're running an IC- otherwise just seafoam it every now and then if you're that worried about buildup.

Lol, I get 22 MPG+ city with a car that runs 12's, why would I care about the .02 mpg better I might get with it while ruining the inside of my motor.
Useless.
I will remove it off my next vehicle as well.

After being replaced 6 times, since they break and cause vac leaks, etc. But we all know 12" of vac is fine on a stock cam...

It's fine if you dropped a bolt into it...

Please post proof of said .02 mpg change- please.
Take it off an otherwise stock car and gas mileage will drop- it did on my gtp when I did it. I guess I don't understand how an engine could get the same gas mileage burning 100% fresh fuel/air charge at part throttle as opposed to replacing 15% of that with relatively inert gas.
I also think you're exaggerating quite a bit saying it will ruin the inside of your engine.

I think you're doing something wrong if yours broke 6 times- my old Impala was over 100k, as was the GTP I sold- and both EGR systems still functioned normally.
