well i decided i wanted to paint my engine cover tonight. black and red are the colors. i wanna paint the 3800 seriesII and V6 and the intake lumps red and the rest black.

i started painting and the way i thought would be easiest is paint the red stuff first then as soon as that dries tape it off and paint the rest black.

i put about 3 coats of red spray paint for plastics on and let that sit for a couple hours. it felt dry so i just tested it out putting tape in a small spot and the tape pulled up the paint. should i let it sit over night? should i start over and do it a different way? lol i really wanna do this

Probably let it sit over night or in the sun all day if you can. What kind of tape did you use?

Your method seems good - but you need to let it dry longer.

i just used painters tape.

and yea i figured i needed to let it sit over night to cure but i'm just impatient lol. i actually just put it back over my engine cause it's still kinda warm so maybe that'll speed it up lol. i hope it turns out good!

Just paint the whole thing black, and then buy the reflective red overlays for your engine cover :)

I used painters tape as well, and mine turned out pretty damn good.

just get a small paintbrush now and do a few touch ups, looks great man!

I got excited on picture 2 because I thought for a second you were doing a paint fade... that'd be cool but difficult with a rattlecan
