This isn't 3100 specific, moved to general

I got my fogs from ddmtuning.com. They were $25, they might be back to 30 now though.

Most of the stories I have heard with them are when they put them at $25 and then couldn't fulfill all the orders placed. This and the shipping was outrageous to places like Canada.

I have VVME fogs and would gladly do business with them again. Great customer service, fair prices, good shipping, all around good company.

I also ordered a kit for a friend so shipping was 15 for me. The only complaint I have is that they're slow, but for 25 bucks I can't complain. It took them a week and a half to tell me my size bulbs were backordered then another 2 weeks for them to arrive.

I wouldn't even worry about highs. You won't be needing to switch that often. I also wouldn't go anything higher than 8,000k. 6000k for brightness with a trace of blue and 8000k for a little more blue.

I wouldn't go higher than 6k, above that you start losing output. Yeah, it may look better to have that sick blueish color to the lights but when you need them most (at night in the rain) they will fail you. Buddy of mine has 8k on his Navigator and a bunch of us had gone up to the snow this past winter. As we were heading home it got dark and coming down the mountain at night with snow/rain falling was not fun cause it hardly looked like he even had his lights on. Alot of times we could only tell based on the reflective signs or if we were really close to the car in front of us. The fact that he had the HID's in his halogen housings probably didn't help much either

Are you sure he actually had HID's and not just bulbs that are rated like HID's? The cheapest HID's will ALWAYS outperform the best halogen bulbs, even if it is in stock housings. The loss from going from 6000k to 8000k is pretty minimal. I'm not saying that their isn't a little but it is not going to be a night and day difference.
