Just do a pcm and exhaust, save money for a engine swap.

PCM is for fun mostly.

Removing speed limiter, giving some timing, firmer shifts.

You'll feel a difference, but yes, it's not a big difference without mods.

Most of the mods in my sig are pretty cheap and make a nice increase in power.

When my monte was stock i never raced anything in it but it was pretty damm slow, lol. Posted Image

With my mods now i walked my friends 02 ford escape V6 pretty hard from a dig and a roll, They are said to be good for low 16's but take that with a grain of salt.

Honestly if you have to ask 'where did you get everything' you probably need to hang around here longer and learn more about what these mods are, what they cost, how much work is involved, and what your goals are for your car

^^
haha, never thought 'saw' the crab until you said that.

But original question. Do some searching on here and other site. If you're wanting fast anything your going to have to spend the money to get it. They L67 swap almost everyone wants is fast but there are things faster. And then of course there are some L67 that are faster than other L67 swaps depending on how much time and money people put into them.

The 3100 isn't this horrible dog every sometimes acts like it is but it's not super fast either. Enjoy the decent gas mileage and decent sounding WOT with 3100.

I got my 3400 UIM, LIM, And TB from the J/Y for about $60, Then i port and polished them myself.

I Made the FWI myself out of 3''ID PVC pipe cover with heat wrap, I am running a 3.5'' AEM dryflow filter.

I would not descreen the MAF on a DD unless you want to take the chance that your car will not run right, I just tryed it to do it and it worked out for me. I got lucky.

A buddy of mine gave me the poly mounts, But ZZP has them for like $60 IIRC.

I would just have your PCM dyno tuned after you get it somewhat modded, I would not buy a pretuned PCM. (Just my .02)

I got the 180*t-stat from autozone.

Got the plug wires from summitracing.com, I would not worry much about getting these unless the wires you have now are shot.

Thats most of the powertrain mods i have done.

That's one of the few flaws with a 3100, the LIM gaskets. Mine was reliable up to 160k miles - being maintained of course. Now the transmission... Different story.

If I were you I`d keep the 3100 until I had all I wanted to make the swap. It`s a good engine. Mine do just fine right now...31 MPG on the highway and good power in stop and go stuff. If ya got the bucks then go for it...

WHY ARE YOU YELLING AT ME!!!!

As for the question about 3100 performance, if you plan on doing a swap later I wouldn't bother putting money into the 3100. Save that extra money for the swap. What kind of swap are you looking at doing?
