Hello all, just a quick question. I have a 2001 Monte LS with the factory single disc Cd player. It worked fine when we purchased it, but after we had the trans rebuilt it seemed to have to "decide" if it wanted to read the cd. Now it wont read them at all. This car has been exceptionally well kept and cleaned and has dark tint. Could the laser be dirty? The manual says not to use a cleaner on it. When you insert a disc it tries to work, but says check cd and spits it back out. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

Well, you might as well use cleaner on it. It doesn't work when you want it to, you need a new CD player anyway.

Mine will do that sometimes with certain CDs in the really hot weather. Usually if I just try a different CD / bring them inside for the night so they aren't so hot it will work again

I had a similar problem, then it progressed to the player not ejecting the cd's all the way. Luckily when it happened the car was still under warranty so the dealer swapped it out.
