can a 3100 sfi v6 be installed into a 95 monte that had the 3.4L dohc? and if so what will i need ? or are the transmisions compatible with each other. i have an engine/transmission out of a 98 buick century (3100 SFI V6), and i have a 95 monte limited(3.4L DOHC) but the tranny is shot so just wondering if i can exchange the tranny or engine+ tranny?

I deleted your other pos, please don't make the same thread in more than one section.

Yes you can swap in a 3100. The transmissions are the same. You will need the wiring harness and pcm out of a 95 monte that came with a 3100. You might have to change a few sensors and minor things since the engine you have is out of a 98.

I'm pretty sure you need to convert to OBD2 since the motor's a '98. If you were to try and use that '98 transmission, you may need your gear ratio changed in the PCM, not 100% sure though.

transmissions are not the same u would need one that goes for the 3100 trust me on this, I did alot of reasearch when i had to find a new tranny. They are the same name 4T60e but the gear ratios are too different and if u swap with the lq1 tranny in there some gears may not work at all.

Gear ratio differences don't mean it won't work. That can easily be changed with a tuner.

like i have the wiring harness including brain box for the 3100 still all hooked up to the engine so it should be all good aslong as the motor mounts on the monte match right? or if they dont im sure i could modify the mounts myself with some steel and a welder witch i got right?

IIRC you'll need the upper mounts (dogbones) from the 3100 which you can find on any 3100 or 3800 wbody. Leave the welder alone and just get the right stuff so sh*t doesn't break.
