I would just gasket match them, And somewhat smooth them out. Thats what i did and it worked wonders.

porting and polishing done right can give you gains however unless you are putting a bigger than stock TB on then you won't get much more than if you just gasket matched.

He means that you need to match the holes in your gaskets to the holes in your intakes.

Use 3400 gaskets. You'd need to dremel them britches, or bring them to a machine shop, in which case you might as well have them ported.

if you take them to a performance shop and explain what you want done they will do it for you. otherwise take a dremel and match up the gaskets like others have said. if you are going to run a 3400 manifold on your 3100 then you should also be running a 3400 TB otherwise you won't get the full potential out of the flow gains. on small engines i don't know that you are going to see numbers as high as 20hp...but you might get upwards of 10hp on the car.

the best thing that you could do however would to be getting the manifolds and the heads extruded and honed out to match up to the gaskets and getting a 5 angle valve job done on the heads. it would be considerably more expensive but you would get the highest level of potential out of the setup then.

Gasket matching works, but is not the best performing. Has nothing to do with porting the rest of the runners, just that the actual port shape will improve flow when its not in the shape of the gasket.
