WHen I got my car the intake duct that has the air temp sensor on it just to give u the part. well the air temp sensor wiring has a 4700 ohm resister jammed into it. I was wondering what is the purpos of this and should i leave it in now that I no longer have a (hot air intake)I am now running fender wall intake pic when i get home.

The resistor is meant to make the computer think colder air is coming in than what really is. Take it off.

I did take it off drove around for a few mins, it seems like the car idles quieter than it used to. but other than that idk if I can really tell a difference. just wondering if the engine thinks colder air is coming in what does it do exactly will more hp come from it or is it just somthing stupid that was on the car when I got it.

If the car thinks colder denser air is coming in, it will dump fuel at it.

Basically. It's just making you waste gas.

Did you remove the resistor, and your negative battery terminal for an hour to put the car back into relearn process, so it actually grabs the data needed and makes adjustments?? Also a tune-up
