has anyone ever tried to install a cooling system in your leather seats? i've wondered if it's possible with 6th gen seats because they have the little holes in the leather and most vehicles with cooled seats also have those holes. think it's possible?

If you figure it out, let me know. I would LOVE to have cooled seats.

All you'd have to do is cut a section out of the foam for the fan to fit into, then find some sort of way to brace around it/over it so you don't smash it sitting down or anything. Then just wire it to a switch or whatever. I've actually been contemplating this for the gtp so I can get rid of all the a/c stuff but not die of a heat stroke at the track or something. If I come across a cheap seat you can count on me givin it a whirl. They way I'd do it would probably not be the best as you'd be sitting on/leaning back against a piece of plexi that's over the fan(s). Just drill a crap ton of little holes in the plexi and put in some wood bracing around the fan, somethin along those lines. Probably try to find a good bearthable padding material to put over the plexi so it's still a somewhat comfortable ride. I love leather but I hate having a soaked back after getting out of the car

Edit- It would be easier to just swap in the seat, but that takes the fun out of it

I've always wondered about this myself. I didn't know BMW had them but I figure some one had to have done it already. I've even thought of a liquid cooling system but then you have to worry about moisture. A fan would make sense. Maybe a few computer size/style fans? Hmmm....

Hell I live in MN and I don't want to drive my car if it's any warmer then 75 out with the sun shining. It's humid as f**k 90% of the time around here during summer, so-so 8% of the time, and absolutely gorgeous the other 2% of the time. Those are probably realistic numbers too, ones of these days I'll actually do something about it
