Heres whats going on, About 2 months ago I picked up an 06 SS as you all know. The car is great and I love it, but from time to time it does some strange things. Sometimes when im slowing down for a red light it seems fine but if the light goes green before I come to a complete stop and I accelerate it seems like the car is stuck in 1st and will rev up to 3000- 4000 rpm. I have to let off the gas and wait for the rpm's to drop down to around 1300-1500 before I can accelerate again, and then everything seems fine. This will happen once or twice a week. Then this morning I was at a light waiting to make a left turn. I was at a complete stop and went to go and it just didnt seem like it wanted to go. Very sluggish off the line. I dont know very much about transmissions, but im not exactly clueless. The car has 40,000mi on it and the fluid level is good, and clean. Anyone else have this issue or know what it might be? Any advice would be helpful. Thanks Everyone!

I wish I could provide more help, what you describe is something I have experienced with just about every t6x series allison trans I have ever driven with more than a few miles on it.

With less than 40k I would hope it is still under some kind of warranty, have a pro take a look to be sure.

well hopefully someone can chime in with some more details.

Like I said before though, it MIGHT be nothing, I can invoke those kind of symptoms from pretty much any t6x trans on command. There are spots in the power band near shift points where there seems to be a mismatch between what you want, what the computer is asking for and the current state of the transmission. I find it's generally related to RPMs, if you pay attention you can easily avoid the trouble spots.

I would still get it checked if you have someone you trust even if its not a dealer since this seems to be a recent change.

Nope, no powertrain warranty. But you do have a power steering recall open.

HA! That might explain the whining noise that I noticed! LOL Thanks for checking though.

All the recall does is replace a small piece of hose that likes to leak. If its already leaking it could be low on fluid causing the whine. No problem!
