ok so im sure a bunch of you remember a while back before I painted my roof... i was looking for options about what to do with my grille and diffuser... i tried out a cheap solution myself... if i didnt like it, it can be peeled off in minutes

I tried it on my grille and rear emblems...not too sure how I feel about the trunk emblems, my tails are finally going to be here hopefully next week, so I will make my decision then whether or not to leave the black on the rear emblems... whats everyones opinions about the look?

anyway I stumbled on this stuff on a website... did some searching, and people are doing it to grilles, rims, even whole cars

its called plastidip.. im sure some of you have heard of it... used to coat tools for the most part... its about $6 a can, comes in black, blue, red, and white... pretty much foolproof... this stuff is great... it will hold well, but when you want to remove it, it will come right off

heres the basic steps to show you how easy it is

check the nut on the rack and see if it's wet down there. That's where they like to leak.

I've heard of this stuff and it looks great. My friend starting doing some parts of his G8 with it. I can't believe how easily if just peals off the paint like that. At first I couldn't believe you wouldn't mask off the emblems or remove them before applying the plastidip.

I like the rear emblems black but the random chrome one in the front feels out of place. How does it look with no emblem and just the grill black?

thanks!!

I cant take it off completely because the emblem is kind of like an assembly... I removed it for paint, but theres a giant circle cut out of the grille for it

i left it chrome to kind of accent the headlights.... i could always take the emblem back off and shoot that black too if anything.. thats whats so great about this stuff... you could do whatever ... lay it on, take it off in minutes if you dont like how it looks.... if you get a nick in it, you could lay down a shot of it in that spot and it wont look like it was touched up... whereas paint, you would have to redo the whole thing to get it looking right

thats pretty cool. i wouldnt mind trying something like that on my grill. i know they make slp grills which are black, but that seems cheaper and if i didnt like it it peels right off

Love it, think the grill would look better though to be gunmetal with a black infiniti symbol
edit: You need a voting option for just leaving everything as is..

wouldnt it just peal off just as easy on the emblems? like through a car was or something or does it bond to the plastic itself for the emblems. Just seems like if it peals that easy on the paint whats keeping it on the emblems

not without scratching a hole through it and then peeling... as it cures it shrinks so it takes the shape of what you put it on
