hey all, my 99 LS starts right up, then stalls after running for about 2 seconds. I did this several times, then it just cranked and wouldnt start. I then came back about 1/2 hour later and it started up fine and i drove home, and it worked for a few days. Now its stalling again. Why could it be doing this??? BTW it still stalls even if the rpm's are high

Crank sensor or MAF sensor would be my guess.

Check fuel pressure when this happens. Any codes?

my guess would be a sensor because it starts/ runs fine. The only thing that confuses me is that there are no codes/ no lights at all.

My Vats system does this to me it hasn't happened in a while and its usually once in a blue moon but the car will start up fine run bout 2 secs then shut itself off. I have the resistor bypass in, I didn't set it up but I found a quick solution to the problem. in the pass fuse panel there is a security fuse i take it out for 5 mins if u try and start the car it wont then put it back in usually solves it for me, it sounds like the same deal but it could be something else entirely.

Agreed. Could be the filter, the pump, pressure regulator.

thanks for the input, next time it happens....who knows? its random, ill test it. Im putting my money on fuel filter being dirty because if it was the pump youd think it would either work, or not work. Plus if its getting more common maybe its just the filter all gummed up.

hello all. the solution was fixed. Turns out it was the chip for the smartkey in the ignition. I spayed contact cleaner on the key and in the slot and now it works fine. The stalling was just the keys chip not being read, so it thought it was being stolen
