so i have a 1995 monte carlo LS and well to say they least, the car is a gas hog i get about 168 miles to the tank, which is just barely 10 miles to the gallon. does anyone know what could be the problem? i have a k and n air filter so im going to clean the mass air flow sensor but i doubt tht that would case me to burn so much gas. again if anyone knows how to fix it or what it could be plz tell me!

You didn't happen to drill a hole in the gas tank like nifty did you?

driving with three wheels will also effect gas mileage considerably

front bank o2 sensor could be forcing the car to dump a ton of fuel.

How many miles are on the car? When was the last time you changed the plugs/plug wires? How about the fuel filter? As mentioned, what about the O2's? It is probably a few things put together that are causing this, that is just basic maintenance . With the winter driving your motor dumps a good amount more fuel than usual, and with the 10% ethanol in gasoline, your mileage will go down a bit as well.

LOL @ Nifty and 3800.
Anyways, the 3100 is known to have the fuel economy of a v8 with the power of a 4 cylinder
lol.
Do a good tune up. Try a new o2, fuel filter, correct plugs gapped right, new wires, oil change, etc. and see how it goes. When was the last time the air filter was changed?
