I have an '03 Monte Carlo with a 3.4L. When the engine is warm and I am stopped at a stop light, the idle drops just below 600 rpm and then will shoot back up to 850-900 rpm. When the idle drops the car shutters and feels like its going to stall, but has not yet stalled. I don't know what is causing this issue. Does anyone have any ideas?

could be as simple as ur iac (idle air control) valve. could be sticking due to excessive carbon deposits etc, and the computer tries to mudul8 it, but the carbon buildup is getting in the way perhaps...i think it should get 1.5-10 volts or so to the terminals. easy to change also. hope that helps

Lots of things could be wrong. IAC, as stated, MAF, MAP, plugs, wires, fuel pressure, dirty throttle body, vacuum leaks, the list goes on and on...
