ever since the ts was done, ive had some hvac issues. i ditched the AC as well as that ball that holds vac pressure in the dirvers sidie fenderwell. now that right there may be my issue, but still ill ask.

issue 1) no matter what setting, no air flow will come out of the top vents. as i said the vac ball is gone, but also im not sure if i capped the line or where that line even ran to....

issue 2) first note, i do have a small header leak; but if you leave the air blowing for awhile i start to smell exhaust fumes. not sure if this is realted to issue one or not, but any help would be great.

Thanks!

You need to cap that line where the ball was. Just follow the hose that's atop the blower that leads to the battery area. That's your HVAC problem.

Exhaust leak in engine bay will make your sh*t smell like exhaust anyway, but if that line isn't capped, that can't help the situation.

Hope you get it figured out, keep us updated

Lol the ball was there for a reason it had noting to do with the ac. Go find that vac line near your fuel lines and reconnect to the vacuum port and T the ball back in problem solved.

With out it long periods under boost you will have no manifold vac and the vents will go to the rest state blowing at your feet. That's why its there.

Dave, I have had mine capped since 2005, and all my vents function normally. Still.

Well since he did a top swap I'm guessing he's supercharged now. How about this section?

Quote

3800 (L36)/3800 Supercharged (L67)

Discussions and Information relating to the 3800 Series II/Supercharged 3.8L 90*V6 found in 98, 99 Z34/00-05 SS trim Montes and the Lumina LTZ.

Seems fit if he has a 3800. Most of ALL the other technical crap is in that section :).

I don't care either. I just like to make this forum fun every now and then. Yeah I realize it's a graveyard.. just bored.

Why wouldn't general tech count? This IS a technical question right? :P

It could quite possibly be technical... All 5th gens have the vac ball... Perhaps that was the answer, all along? :D

It is fun having a random Buck post, they have always been great, I'm a fan of yours lol

Just have Joe rename the forum to "f*ckit.com"

Take what I say with a grain of salt.. 99.99% of the time I post here it's in the wee hours of the morning and I've already had 12 beers and counting so I have a nice buzz by the time I post :).
