a few months ago..i was on the interstate and the car shuddered when it shifted then started running really slow and burning super rich..smelled like gas........brought it home and checked and noticed my cat was clogged...........so i replaced it with a magnaflow cat.........the mufflers were blown out inside so i replaced them as well....well the car still is running slow......3000 rpms at 60mph...it feels like something is holding it back.........i changed the spark plugs..cleaned the egr and maf and replaced the 02 sensor......the gas smell when away after that....any ideas?

no codes btw

Was the cat plugged or just glowing because you were having an ignition issue and you were pooring raw fuel in to it to be burned off. I would try getting a new coil pack and rotate it around the 3 spots and see if you get your power back. Could also have a bad fuel reg or pcm that's leaving the injectors open to long or a stuck open injector.

Coil also have a bad tps sensor if it drives but bogs after like say 15% throttle position that can also be a cause.

just an update.....for the hell of it i pulled the plug....and it was terrible and looked like the original one that came in the car...thats how bad..so looks like my mechanic never changed the plugs like he said he did............so im doing that first...and maybe just maybe the problem will be solved.........the wires are good i did them myself...........so now i have all the front ones in..........and because its a 95 3.4 dohc i dont have to take the intake manifold off to get at the rear right? just rock the motor forward?

correct you can undo the front mount and rock the engine forward. you can roll the car back in neutral and i think it will rock the engine. if not it is keep it in park and take E brake off and rock the engine... cant remember which.

Omg how in the f*ck did that f*cken happen!!!!???? Iv never seen a Lq1 have a plug snap iv seen the threads get screwed up but never seen a spark plug snap on this motor. Good luck man getting it out. The tools to get it work but its a long way in a motor to try it. Its a long sot but try it. make shure you spray it with pb blaster a few times days before you try it. And every one wounder why im religious with antisizee compound and autolight plugs....

Snapping a plug on a lq1 is 1 2 and 3 the wipers is just a bonus. You may need to seat the easy out with a hammer before rotating.

That wont work for you that's for a special type of spark plug that's prone to braking.

Make shore you tape it all together nothing worse then getting something stuck down there. I had a spark plug socket once that kept falling off the extension.

thanks...uhm..well the ez out sheered off the socket..and is now stuck in the spark plug hole..and i cant seem to retrieve it... :( soo looks like i might have to pull the motor...which really sucks...i do have a 95 ls that has a 3100 with 2000 and up upper and lower manifolds on it and a 3400 throttle body...i wonder if i should just pull my motor out and put that in its place...
