The Trans Am broke in the beginning of October. I decided to cut my losses and just sell the car. I was tired of putting money into it. A friend of a friend bought it. I know I'll probably see the car again at shows and out terrorizing the streets at night.

After a few weeks of searching for a clean low mileage C5 Z06 in my budget I found this beauty.

2002 Z06 w/ 39k miles. The only modification is high flow filter. I plan on leaving this one mostly unmolested. Possibly a better CAI and maybe a set of longtubes.

Awesome!

Can't blame you for just doing the basics. Make it sound good, and just enjoy it. It IS a Corvette after all, you don't have anything to prove :)

With his mods, I wouldn't be surprised if a lot was failing on him daily. He really made that car a non-DD with everything he did.

I blew a headgasket racing the car on the nitrous over the summer. When I pulled the heads there appeared to be no damage done other than number eight was steam cleaned. I put some CNC ported heads and a FAST intake on the car. It put down 460hp/427tq on the motor and I was reluctant to spray it again as I wanted to get a daily before I made too much power for a stock bottom end.

Early October, a day before my birthday, the motor tried to crank and it seized up. After messing with it I figured it was a bent or broken rod. I put the car up for sale while I figured out if I really wanted to get rid of it or build a motor for it. I wasn't going to touch the car for a while. Someone was interested in the car and offered me what I wanted for it. Condsidering it was broken I didn't do too bad. They bought the car and tore it down the same day. Number eight rod was bent in two different directions. When I blew the headgasket that cylinder must of filled up with enough water to do some damage even though I shut it down right away.

I used the money I got for the car to get out of any debt and now my only bills are the carpayment, insurance and my cell phone. I plan on saving all my money now so I can put down a good downpayment on a house and finally move out of my folks house. We all gotta grow up sooner or later.

True. At least you got what you wanted out of it, and you got some debt paid off. That's always a plus. Great to hear from you too!

That's a good looking Z06. There's a part of me that has a hard time believing that you're only going to do an intake and headers on the Vette though :D

Nice!!! Just curious, what did you end up paying for it? I have been contemplating getting one for a nice weekend car. Just can't find any that I really like without spending a couple more thousand than I want.

I picked it up for 18k. Most of the ones in Florida that are under 60k miles are going between 22k-25k.

you had a vac leak that could have been a simple fix once you found it... he had a blown motor lol

he's been tearing it up for a while in that thing while you also had just been finishing your beast... sucks for us to see you put in that much work and then not get a chance to enjoy it fully

You bought a modified, engine swapped car for reliability.

Since you still live with your parents, why not get a beater car, save more money and move out earlier? Having no payment (hence beater) is cheaper than a $300-400 car payment.
98 LTZ - 12.9 @ 105 sold/retired... fastest FWD LTZ in the world? VS cam, ported stuff, headers N* TB, not intercooled
99 Regal GS - DPP headers, Intake, 3.2, SSIC, 1.8/1.85 rockers, 3" exhaust - 13.5 @ 102 on stock timing and then the maf died - sold
99 Regal LS - Wife's car. 144k.
2003 Regal GS. Dynotech stage 2 trans, Ported blower, lower, China-bay headers, SLP cat-back, 3.4/3.6 pulleys. No current time.

Trying to have my cake and eat it too. If it becomes an issue this car shouldn't be too hard to flip. My parents and I have a good relationship. I'm in no rush to move out and they're not giving me the boot. I got rid a few bills once the Trans Am was gone. What I have to pay for now is by no means breaking the bank.

I wish I was able to live with my parents longer to save money. Nothing wrong with it at all!!

But for college I had to move out at 18, and I couldn't go back because my work was here, and they're 3 hours away.

A little update. I did my first mod this weekend. It's was a demod.

After reading up on the cyclone intake on the car I found out it's pretty terrible. You cut a giant hole in the radiator shroud and the tiny scoop doesn't grab much air but just traps dirt. Also the filter is a tiny APC filter that flows less than the factory airbox and paper filter. After pulling the filter you could see that it was clogged with dirt and has never cleaned. I replaced it with a factory modified airbox and a K&N replacement filter I found on Craigslist.

Posted Image

Once I pulled the intake off I discovered the throttle body has been ported. You can see the sanding lines, the grind marks on the throttle shaft and the coolant bypass has been done.

Posted Image

I'm also thinking about getting my wheels powder coated like this. I like it but I feel like black wheels are a bit played out. A lot of people just rattle bomb their wheels black around here.

Posted Image

What do you guys think?
