Just finished the 3400 uim/lim swap yesterday. car runs fine except for a couple injectors seem to be leaking.

When I put them back in, I made sure they were all seated correctly and aligned in the lim and properly inserted into the fuel rail. But it's still leaking...

Do I just need some new O-rings for the injectors OR (i'm not quite sure about this) do I need different injectors? Are the 3400 injectors a little different (bigger/longer) then the current 3100 injectors?

Here's a few pics..

Posted Image
Posted Image
Posted Image
Posted Image

You probably just need new o-rings, but make sure you have them pressed in all the way of course

I did a little research and the injectors for the 3400 are different, But that's a expensive way to go. I picked up a set of O-rings today for the top/bottom of all the injectors. I'll tear it apart tomorrow and see if it makes a difference.

Nice Pics :) How hard was the swap? What all do you gain from doing this swap?

Hope you get your leak figured out.

Just my opinion but I think you should've swapped the heads too

She is definitely looking sweet though!

Fixed the leak, new o-rings and I was told to lubricate the rings in some oil before seating them and they will pop right into place, it worked.

The swap was pretty straight forward, out with the old, replace all the gaskets and in with the new. The only special part I needed was a coolant hose that fits in the back on the 3400 lower manifold with an o-ring instead of a threaded hose that's on the 3100 manifold. (This could ruin your day if you started the project without knowing this, haha)

I haven't noticed any difference in low end power, but when I get into the higher rpm's it take off. I also put in a 180* tstat, 3400 56mm throttle body, descreened the MAF, removed the EGR and bypassed the coolant for line the throttle body. Runs perfect, idles so smooth.

Heads would have been nice, but also expensive. I picked up most of the things I needed from pull yards.

Cool. I want to do something to my 3100 and I thought a top swap would be fun. Did you follow some guide or anything. A list of needed parts? Thanks.

Yea, it was pretty fun. I enjoyed doing it. I can now say my 3100 is somewhat modded haha.

I really just researched as much as I could about it. A lot of information was on this forum already. Mizlymotorsports also has a lot of information about the parts needed.

Basic things are

-Upper intake manifold (can be 3400 intake OR 2000+ 3100 intake)
-Lower intake manifold (can be 3400 intake OR 2000+ 3100 intake)
-3400 56mm throttle body or bigger. (I saw after market ones that went up to 62mm)
-New pushrod gaskets for 3100
-New upper intake gaskets for 3400
-New 3400 throttle body gasket
-New valve cover gaskets (they're rubber, so not necessary, but I would anyways)
-Tube of RTV gasket maker
-Slip-fit coolant line (no threads, ordered from Milzy)
-Drain and flush coolant (fresh coolant)
-Drain oil (fresh oil)

If you get all that, you're set to go. Like I said all the parts can be found in a pull yard for cheap. Then everything else is basic things found at your auto parts store.

I have the coolant tube and tb if you want to buy them from me. I sold my ported 3400 intakes to Trewyn and have parts left over because his car is an 04.

Nice to see people still doing work to 3100s.

Cool thanks! It's getting a little late in the year for me to be starting this now, but I'll definintley put it on the top of the list for the spring.

I'll hit you up later if I'm having trouble finding parts.

It's cheaper then the L67 swap..

Maybe when I have a few extra stacks laying around I'll get around to it ;)
