After a bit of time, the kit is finally on! There's still a few things left to do to the body, but I'm happy so far. Here's how it looks now:

check the nut on the rack and see if it's wet down there. That's where they like to leak.

Next spring all body damage should be fixed (the big dents and rust). I'm not sure if I want to pull the side molding off. I kinda like the body lines it has with it. Maybe though.

Thanks guys! I was tempted to drive the Monte today but I didn't like how cold it was outside. Is it too early to be looking forward to spring?

If you like how the moldings look that's one thing, but they did NOTHING to stop my car getting multiple door dings before I made the decision never to park by anyone... ever.

Zipper, you know you can prob pound out those dents in the rear drv quarter. open the trunk and pull the carpet. you can give a good wack with your fist and it should come out. in the spring some biker got road rage at me. he pounded on my rear quarter and dented it in. then he proceeded to beat on my window to the point i thought it was gonna break.... he almost got his self shot. sorry for the rant... but yeah you should be able to pound that part right out.

Man Digi, I would have been MAD if anyone tried doing that to my Monte. Here's the stories on my dents.

The hood: About five years ago, the Monte was parked over a weekend in a parking lot nearby Michigan State (MSU). When I went to drive the Monte home, I found a dent on my hood. Since then I've tried a LOT of different things to get the dent out, but it won't come out because the body line on the hood was dented as well. It sucks, but it's gonna be gone next year, so oh well, I guess.

Behind the gas cap: About 3 weeks ago or so, in my own driveway my wife's 77 year old friend decides that she isn't going to pay attention to where she's backing up and hits my car and leaves. Man was I fuming. So that night I went in through the trunk and beat the crap out of it to where you see it now. Yes, it use to be worse, but like my hood the body line is also dented so I can't really do much more to it. Plus, there's a lot of cancer right under the gas cap so I'm just going to have it all repaired at once.

So with all of that, it gives me a reason to fix the Monte up and have fun with it until the near stock tranny blows, lol.

Letsgetblown, the green Malibu is my wife's car lol. It's an 03 base model v6. It's actually a really nice car with great visibility and good gas mileage. I've recorded a hair over 30.5 mpg with her car.
