Some of you know, I did the 3400 top swap on my 3100 a couple months ago. It's been running great until what happened the other day.
Just to clarify, the 3400 swap requires you use a new lower intake coolant line that has an O-ring attachment. The old 3100 line was threaded.
So, I was driving on the highway and look in my rear view mirror and see a cloud of smoke behind my car and then the HOT light comes on. I pull over and check under the hood, turns out the slip-fit coolant line wiggled/popped out of the lower intake, most of my coolant was lost. It was late so I stopped by the store and grabbed some water and put that in so I could make it home. I fixed the line and put new coolant in on Monday.
Since then, I've had to stop a couple times because the engine is about to overheat. What could be the problem? Could the water pump have seized? If so, how do I go about checking that?

How hot did it get? If u pegged the needle the engine is cooked.

Make sure u have bled ALL the air out of the system...may take a bit. Air pockets equal no water flow.

I had my brother in-law who's a mechanic check it out. Head gaskets.

Did you reuse the old ones or something?

I don't think they've ever been replaced, at least I haven't done so. There's also white really white smoke coming out of the exhaust.
I bought all the new gaskets today. Going to tear it down tomorrow. Someone suggested I have the heads resurfaced as well. I'll get that down too.

With your topswap, did you do an entire topswap or just the LIM up? Sucks you gotta tear it back down, but here's your chance to get the heads ported.

Just the lower intake and up. I would have loved to do more but as always money is the issue.

Fixed!
What a job, but two days whole days of work and I got it done. Also fixed oil leak I've known about for a while.
