Q: Are there any lowering springs made for my car?
A: Yes, 1995-Present Monte Carlo owners have a large selection of lowering springs - manufacturers that include Eibach, Intrax, SpringTech, and Suspension Techniques.

1995-1999 owners will get a 1.3" drop in the front and rear with Eibach springs. Intrax will drop the front and rear 1.8". Please note, Eibach springs will give you a much stiffer ride. Most will recommend that you replace the struts when installing lowering springs to save time and money in the future. KYB and Monroe Sensatrac struts are used by many members.

Coilovers are also available for 1995-1999 Monte owners. They are manufactured by http://www.heldmotorsports.com

Q: Can the trailing or lateral arms be upgraded?
A: Yes, they sure can. GMPP makes upgraded arms that you can order from GM Parts Direct or your local Chevrolet dealership. BMR Fabrication also makes stronger and beefier trailing and lateral arms for all w-bodies. Held Motorsports also offers an upgraded version for 1995-1999 owners.

Q: Where can I purchase front and rear strut tower bars for my Monte Carlo?
A: 1995-1999 owners have a few options - RSM Racing offers polished bars, Held Motorsports offers bars in your choice of powder coat colors, or the final option which is much cheaper is going down to your local dealership and ordering part number 12498648 (please note: minor fabrication required. You can either make adapter plates or order them here- http://www.zzperform...fc4cd34bd444a6)

Q: Is there a big brake kit available for my car?
A: A big brake is manufactured by Held Motorsports for 1995-1999 owners. It consist of 13" rotors for the front and rear. Baer is also working on a kit for 1997-present Monte Carlo owners.

Q: I own a 1995-1999 Monte Carlo and want to order new rotors for my car. What size rotors do I have?
A: If you have a 1995 Monte Carlo, you more than likely have 10.5" front rotors and rear drums. A small amount of 1995 cars have 11.25" front rotors. All 1996-1999 Monte Carlo's have 11.25" front rotors and 11" rear rotors.

Q: I have a 1995 Monte Carlo with rear drums, is it possible to swap to rear discs?
A: Yes, w-body.com has an excellent write up on this conversion which can be seen at Attached File  1995to99MCLumiRearDiskConversion.pdf (135.13K)
Number of downloads: 24

Q: What are the stock sway bar sizes?
A: 34mm for '95-'99 Z34 front.

I would HIGHLY recommend asking someone with the HMS coilovers about them before ordering... IMO they're a race only part and should not be used on the street.

Here, it says the '96-99's have 11" rear rotors. I have a '96, and had a '99, both had rear drums. So not all '96+ MC's have the rear rotors.

Here's a question:

Can I upgrade my sway bars?

All I know is you can use some from a Z34/LTZ if you don't have those already. Otherwise Addco makes sway bars, but I have no idea if they are any better.

It should also be said that some 1995's had rear discs, it was an option.

The Hollander Interchange book found at most wrecking yards list both rear drum and rear disc available on 96-99 Montes and Luminas. It doesn't specify LTZ, police or Z34, etc. It seems drums were standard and discs were optional on the rear across the board.

the hollander usually doesnt list them according to model type. they wont list the 3.4 as a z34 engine or the 3100 as the base, its just by whatever part. ive seen them break down the suspensions by police and taxi and F41, etc. but not rear brakes.

It was by model.

The 96-99 Z34 had rear discs.
The 95-99 LS and 95 Z34 had rear drums.

I am not aware of a single 95 that had discs in the rear (other than mine and I did the swap) although they may be out there.

Some of the 95's also had the smaller front discs - 10.5". The later ones had 11.25" brakes. I got lucky and at least had the larger, later front brakes.

If you're buying a Monte, there are a lot of upgrades on the Z34. Because the prices are so low right now, the best bet is to buy the best 98-99 Z34 you can afford. The 3.8L is great from a low maintenance and a modification standpoint. I would then recommend the 96-99 LS. It's simple, reliable, and cheap. 3400 swaps can also make a lot of power and there are actually a lot of cheap modifications for them. You can usually buy very low mileage 3400's for $500. Next to last is the 96-97 Z34 with the 3.4L DOHC. The engine is part of what makes this car one of the most loved and most loathed. The very last choice IMO is the 95 in either LS or Z34 form.

If you are looking for a brand name big brake kits w/ 4piston to 6 piston calipers, they can be found here.

http://www.revolutio...brake-kits.html

www.heldmotorsports.com

Or if you are looking for really nice OEM sized performance rotors and calipers. They can be found here.

http://www.discbrake.../montecarlo.htm

Name brand aftermarket rotors include: EBC, Brembo, Pro Stop, and Powerslot for 95-99 Monte Carlos

If you are looking for air bag suspension. They sell a kit here.

http://www.airbagit-...ult.asp?redir=1

If you are looking for aftermarket rims for a 95-99 Monte Carlo or Lumina. The lug pattern is 5x115. 17"-19" would fit nicely in the wheel well even with aftermarket springs. The air bag kit above can be used with up to 18" rims w/ modification. The width of the rim can be anywhere from 7" wide (stock) to about 8.5" wide (fill the wheel well)

Aftermarket Trailing Arms can be bought from BMR, Addco, Mevotech or Moog. All are better than stock.

http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/performa...&partid=103

Aftermarket sway bars can also be found at Addco.

http://www.addco.net/
